Immune-suppressed or immune-compromised, @bizzey? (Paul)

JellyBeanFactory · 10/11/2023 09:16

The bright yellow Underworld lingerie was being bought by Married at First Sight husband TwoGeorges for Peggy!
(If you watch, you'll know!)

AutumnCrow · 10/11/2023 11:32

There's a rack of incredibly bright orange bras in my local George At Asda. And fluorescent pink. They are a wondrous sight to behold. They all seem huge, but with sizes like 36C I think it's mostly padding.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 10/11/2023 15:00

I was in primark earlier and your eyes would go on fire at the colours

Terfosaurus · 10/11/2023 15:33

I'm gutted that the fluorescent bras in primark won't fit me. I think they're great.

AutumnCrow · 10/11/2023 16:06

I think they're 'Going Out Out' bras for a Friday night to be worn as tops under an open jacket (or, in Newcastle toon centa, without a jacket, preferably in the middle of winter).

I wish the writers would research properly. PIP is fast tracked for people with a terminal illness. Paul would get his payment within 2 weeks.

Yes, my dad got his when he was terminally ill. it wasn’t called PIP back then, DLA?

bizzey · 10/11/2023 16:57

Is Billy suspended on full pay ?

How are they surviving ?

eggandonion · 10/11/2023 17:20

(As an aside...is it only Newcastle that does the going out with few clothes? Do ladies in other cities wear weather appropriate clothes? Id love to go to Newcastle).

I’m obviously behind the bra curve! 😳

AutumnCrow · 10/11/2023 20:00

I think 'Bra Wear' is quite popular now in quite a few cities, @eggandonion, where there's a high population of bars & clubs and young people / students.

PabloandGustheGreySquirrels · 10/11/2023 21:00

Omg that was hilarious!

eggandonion · 10/11/2023 21:19

I read about young women getting very glamorous on nights out in Liverpool. The last night out I had was in a rather posh university city and didn't see underworlds finest! Poor Summer losing another parent.

AutumnCrow · 10/11/2023 21:31

Why would Bernie go to the police station without a solicitor? The character is written and portrayed as being no rookie. (And I think Bernie actor was very good tonight showing the stress of it all.)

thenightsky · 10/11/2023 21:40

Summer losing another parent

She'll be down to 2 dads now, poor lass.

eggandonion · 10/11/2023 22:18

Presumably Adam is taking Harry for a kick around and Deedee is being fitted for a going out bra. The only option for a solicitor is the boyfriend we dont trust.
I was sure Jawseph was going to need the private hospital bed for a while.

bizzey · 11/11/2023 04:04

The Bernie and Abbie scenes were very good .
Really felt Bernie's pain.

JMSA · 11/11/2023 05:50

I thought the latest episode was very well done, with a good mix of humour and sadness.
I don't often praise it, so felt I should in this case!

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 11/11/2023 06:44

Think they have been reading our posts and got some decent script writers in fingers crossed.
Last nights episode was similar to the quality of episodes of the distant past.
The humour in the bathroom scene - ‘it’s not a gay thing….’ ‘I’m getting stiff,” contrasted with Gemma and Bernie’s pain was very well done.
I thought they were initially gearing up for Paul’s sudden demise at Christmas initially but with the diagnosis given it doesn’t look that way.

Daffodilsandtuplips · 11/11/2023 07:28

Last nights episode was the best in a long time: well written, well acted and for once they allowed us to laugh and cry in equal measure. The hospital scenes with Paul being given his prognosis were really touching, the bath scenes and dialogue, heartbreaking, with laugh out loud moments at the same time. Tod, Bernie, Abbie, Al, all excellent.
Gemma with her concern for Joseph was well done. I felt like clouting Chesney though over his strong arm tactics though.

AutumnCrow · 11/11/2023 08:03

The Todd and David actors always get their deliveries of droll lines just right. Pitch perfect cynicism in a mad world of trouble surrounded by odd people and their problems.

Billy: So, how’s it going? Anything happening with you?
David: Well my uncle turned out to be a serial killer, so … there’s that.

And just most of what Todd says. Lights up a scene. Unlike some of the them - please no more crappy teens and you can keep Courtney in the prop box too.

I see they’re trying to untangle the mess they made of the PIP story, but it’s still pretty confused. But I suppose if it shows the cruel, ridiculous system up, then that’s a good thing.

eggandonion · 11/11/2023 08:44

The bishop needs to appear more. He could be a boyfriend for dr gadass or the detective. Im sure they live in the nice apartments.
I don't believe that the parishioners miss Billy. He was never out if the Rovers or Roys.

WiddlinDiddlin · 11/11/2023 09:23

Last nights was a good un, yep - the bathroom scenes, oh I can relate (not that I've ever broken a vicar whilst stuck in the bath then had a local builder and undertaker to come fix it...) - the humour you find in the shittiest of situations, mm! That felt very natural to me, v well done.

Hellendegenerate · 11/11/2023 10:28

The bathroom scene was very good and well done but it could have done without the "stiff" innuendo at the end. Also the line from Billy saying his best sex was with Paul.

Am no pearl clutcher but come on this is Coronation Street and airs at 8pm. Those lines were not necessary in an otherwise excellent part of the episode.
