omg my friend's daughter was @Buttons
Just caught the end
was it horrid?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/03/2008 20:37

Well, it wasnt ideal. Not enough staff. Staff paid pittance on pretext that they were training - except they werent being trained. No CRB or reference checks done. No induction. Building work done during the day whilst children in the nursery.

pamplemousse · 05/03/2008 20:39

Oh god can't watch anymore she's going to a nursery where a child died.

clur79 · 05/03/2008 20:40

OMG this is horrible!

pamplemousse · 05/03/2008 20:41

Watching slightly odd man who's made an assault course for badgers now, am feeling soothed.

southeastastra · 05/03/2008 20:46

it's awful, how can that place still be open? they need webcams in there.

RTKangaDYSONMummy · 05/03/2008 20:50

They deffo nred webcams so at least the parents can watch out for their own children

OP posts:
Emprexia · 05/03/2008 20:52

2 staff for 23 children? fuck.

there should be at least 5.

scorpio1 · 05/03/2008 20:52

i feel terrible about mine going to nursery now

mehdismummy · 05/03/2008 20:53

was seriously thinking about putting ds in nursery but now i will not be. God who can you trust?

Heated · 05/03/2008 20:55

Having watching this does it makes ppl feel a)Righteous at being a SAHM or b)Righteous for at least using a CM? or c)Guilty about being a working parent?

Emprexia · 05/03/2008 20:55

THey don't NEED to close the nursery. they need to replace that idiot manager and employ more staff!

southeastastra · 05/03/2008 20:56

it makes me not want to let anyone look after my boy. Met a lovely cm today too.

BritTex · 05/03/2008 20:59

there are several childcare "chains" in the US that have webcams. It allows parents to check on their children anytime. it's not expensive to set up. great business idea for someone...

LadyOfWaffle · 05/03/2008 21:00

all I can do is I am speechless, totally speechless.

liath · 05/03/2008 21:01

In reply to Heated - I feel guilty. I work one day a week which is the minimum I can get away with to keep my career ticking over but I KNOW that nursery is suboptimal care, I just know it and hate using it.

DloeufyDoo · 05/03/2008 21:03

liath if you know it is suboptimal care why do you use it?

Heated · 05/03/2008 21:10

Yes, I meant righteous as in being right btw (not self-righteous!)

I really loathe this sort of programme that goes out of its way to find establishments like this.

liath · 05/03/2008 21:13

It's either that or stop work completely and I'd find it very hard to get back in. I'd have the same concerns about a CM that I do about nursery. It's a horrible dilemma TBH, I feel damned if I do & damned if I don't.

quickdrawmcgraw · 05/03/2008 21:13

I've just watched it and it was pretty hard going.
A few weeks ago I witnessed a staff member of a nearby creche being rough with one of the children while they were out for a walk. I reported it to our equivilent of Ofsted but they told me nothing can be done except to visit the creche and ask them to review their childcare guidelines. I'm disillusioned with reporting now to be honest.

DloeufyDoo · 05/03/2008 21:13

It's an awful situation for you to be in.

stuffitllama · 05/03/2008 21:14

Heated.. don't shoot the messenger. Please.

tiredemma · 05/03/2008 21:17

I had a 5 week nursery placement in my first year. Bloody truly awful place.

I witnessed a vegetarian child being given Spagetti Bolognaise for dinner and a 8 month old baby having blended chocolate cake ( despite his mother catagorically stating that she did not want him eating chocolate.- At hometime they told her that he had had pureed fruit for pudding)

The worse was witnessing staff blatently only responding with their 'favourite' kids- the least favourite being literally ignored all day.

absolute shithole, I had so many arguments, I thought I would be escorted off the building
