So a few months back, possibly as recent as end of August, DD15 saw an ad on Disney for a murder mystery type thing set in 40s/50s with a yellow text title, she felt it had a double meaning to it (so possibly a comedy). It's completely vanished, so currently trawling the whole Internet for it and my last hope is Mumsnet!
She's sure Matthew McConaughey is in it, but it's not on anything I can see!
It's not See How They Run or any Agatha Christie 🤔

The Only Murders In The Building ?

Throwncrumbs · 11/09/2023 20:36

Only murderer in the building

CoffeeAndEnnui · 11/09/2023 20:37

It couldn't have been Only Murders in the Building, could it?! Not a period piece obviously but the posters and ads are very stylised so it looks 'vintage'.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 11/09/2023 20:38

Hah, great minds!

Only Murderers In the Building?

heldinadream · 11/09/2023 20:39

Weirdly this is ringing the faintest of faintest of bells, from some trailer at the cinema. But I've got nothing more than that. I'm just posting my faint bell of recognition to encourage you to keep looking OP.

😅I should have added it ISN'T Only Murders In The Building. Sorry about that 😆

Oh while I fumbled and typed a load of others came along with better info! 🙄

Notagains · 11/09/2023 20:41

Knives out?

Merrow · 11/09/2023 20:42

Definitely on Disney? It couldn't have been Knives Out?

jay55 · 11/09/2023 20:42

Death on the Nile?
No Matthew but loads of recognisable names.

This literally all I remember too! A faint, vague memory of something murdery with some famous(?) actors in. I was starting to question my sanity!

Glass Onion?

PurpleSky09 · 11/09/2023 20:44

Could it be
"A murder at the end of the world" ?

Afraid not, but this is on constant reply at the moment 😅

Nightmare Alley (a newish Guillermo del Torro film) is 1940s (ish) with a yellow title and Bradley Cooper looking a bit McConaughey-y.

fixyourgardengate · 11/09/2023 20:44

Was it Amsterdam?

Snittler · 11/09/2023 20:45

I was going to say Knives Out/Glass Onion!

SephrinaX · 11/09/2023 20:45

'Rules don't apply'

HiBarbie · 11/09/2023 20:45

Why didn't they ask Evans?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 11/09/2023 20:45

Haunted Mansion (2023)?

MoxieFox · 11/09/2023 20:45

It wasn’t Glass Onion, Knives Out?

It’s not 40/50s even though the detective dresses 40/50s.
