Catch me up on Eastenders? (Not watched for over 10 years!)

Hi everyone - I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole and I’ve been watching old eastenders episodes on Drama, I started where Bianca was sleeping with Dan Sullivan and it’s now currently at the point where Kat and Alfie marry.

I was an avid eastenders fan up till 2010 and I’d really like to get back into watching it again but I have absolutely no idea what’s been going on or who a lot of the characters are!

Can anyone help fill in the (lots of) gaps at all?!

Following in case anyone answers. So many old faces seem to be back, from what I've seen on the ads.

My daughter recently stayed for a few days and got me back in to it after a break of 10 years. We watched 4 episodes and it was surprisingly easy to pick it up again, I don't thing you really need to worry about catching up on the last 10 years although I do find myself googling some characters for a quick overview

I have fallen down the rabbit hole of going back as far as I can with episodes on iPlayer too so I'm watching episodes from July last year and the current ones. The main thing I've noticed is that the actress who plays Jean Slater is absolutely brilliant

Same here - I am now starting to piece it together after the Ian and Cindy return because I think I last watched it when Lucy died and Lola was a relatively new character.
My problem is that most of the younger men all look the same to me and only Zak stands out because think he is beautiful 😳🫣😖.

Well I can’t fill in all the gaps for ten years (I’ve only been watching on and off myself) but main things at the moment are:

• Phil and Kat are somehow engaged
• Lola has recently died and her daughter Lexi is being brought up by her dad Ben and his husband Callum and her stepdad Jay
• Kathy is married to Rocky who is some sort of a Cotton.
• Sonia is with Reiss who is also a relative of Dot. He has a wife in a coma and he is taking her money pay for IVF for him and Son
• Stacey and Martin are divorced but still close. Lily has had a baby with Jack’s son Ricky (also Sam’s son).
• Whitney lost a baby last year with Zack - was very sad.
• Cindy just back from ‘the dead’ and back with Ian. She was in witness protection for 25 years. During this time she was married to George who is now running the Vic with his fiancée Elaine who is Linda’s mother
• Mick is missing presumed dead

Also the Panesars are the current villains of the square.

Jack and Denise are married. Kim is with some bloke whose name escapes me.

Alfie still loves Kat but she’s staying with Phil.

stacey is married to Eve who is a lesbian. She married her after meeting her in prison so she could get out of prison or something?? They are just friends tho.

stacey has a stalker called Theo who she ‘met’ while doing OnlyFans. He is also a teacher or something who was helping Freddie with his ADHD. Freddie is little Mo’s son.

Sharon had a baby with a young fella called Keanu who was also going out with Phil’s daughter Louise at the time. He got both of them pregnant. Phil not amused.

not sure when Keanu is at the mo?

Dot died recently also. That’s how Sonia met her nephew

Oh and Ben has bulimia.

So Kathy and Cindy both back from the dead?

I haven't watched it for a good 15 years I think

Why couldn't cindy take her son into witness protection?!

Phil is engaged to kat slater?? 😬

Omg. I saw ten mins the other day and was thinking about getting into again after a 12 year break but just a few posts have blown my mind on this so I best stay away.

Phill is married to kat??? Sharon has a baby with the same man as Phil's daughter? Jack and Denise?

Kathy came back from the dead a good few years ago - around when Lucy was killed - she was in hiding due to an abusive relationship.

Cindy went into witness protection as she gave evidence against her cell mate who was part of some London gang. I don’t know why she couldn’t take Cindy Jr with her. Then she was married to George and had two daughters but had to leave tjem
when Lucy died as she thought that the gang had killed Lucy. Completely coincidentally the ex husband ended up getting engaged to Linda’s mother and moved into the Vic with his two daughters just before Cindy arrived back. 😂

Wow what a web of intrigue!

Okay so I have just watched the last two episodes and have these questions if anyone can help!

• Who is Ravi?
• What has Denise just watched on the laptop?
• Do Kat and Alfie have twin boys together?
• I am assuming Chelsea is Denise's daughter that was in it all them years ago?

Ravi is one of the Panesars. He tried to have an affair with Denise and they kissed but she didn’t sleep with him. Now he is with Chelsea who yes is Denise’s daughter with a new head but Denise doesn’t trust him. I’ve only been watching on and off so I don’t know what he’s up to but he is dodgy and was being investigated by Jack and Callum for something a while back.

Alfie and Kat have twins Bert and Ernie!

Jade Goody’s son is in it these days which blows my mind. He’s also doing strictly Chris year

suki was attacked and attempted rape by Ravis dad (but not his dad, Nish is his dad). I think his name was Ranveer. She hit him and thought she killed him. Ravi came in and agreed to dispose of body. But Ranveer came round and Ravi hit him over the head and killed him. He put body in suitcase which was found.
Suki thought she did it. Her son took the blame and went to prison for it. Even though he was out of London at the time and no real investigation happened.

Thank you for this 👍, so much angst surrounding this family but I had no idea why, especially if they are talking about people who no longer exist.

I was thinking of restarting watching as I've also not watched in 10 years and I know it's suppose to be far from realistic but I cannot believe that Ben has been given custody of Lexi-- didn't he murder Heather? I can't believe he's just walking around and nobody has ever mentioned it! He's a murderer!

He shares custody with Jay - but I suppose he did his time, same as Bobby. Im more surprised by Bobby just being accepted again - he only killed his sister a few years ago!
