I watch F1 on C4 and always thought Billy came across as lovely. I’m loving him and his sister, so mature with their spending and trying everything. Really hope Billy takes care of himself as it’d be soul destroying seeing him leave early because of injury.

Stressybetty · 28/09/2023 00:52

Enjoyed this tonight apart from Alex's negativity, feeling sorry for his dad. Wondering if Mel will dropping out if her mum gets too bad.

Agree with this. Think that Billy and Bonny are the standout stars of this series.

Yep, agree.

The octopus thing was funny for the dad's reaction but come on, Alex was clearly physically struggling with that and he wasn't doing it to be princessy. I did think that if you have a phobia of seafood then octopus is a bit of a bloody full on item to have in front of you. It would be like taking someone with a fear of heights to the top of the shard.

On the other hand his fear steams from a bone and he's not going to come across many of those in an octopus.

Loving Billy and Bonny. Billy is so resilient and Bonny an amazing support for him.
As a mum of two children with autism I definitely agree with those saying Alex has autism too. I see a lot of my DS in how Alex reacts to change in plans and routine ect and going into the unknown. He’ll definitely be out of his comfort zone doing this and maybe struggling to regulate himself, my DS would definitely find it difficult too. I don’t know if Alex has a diagnosis but to me he’s more autistic than man child. His dad Noel is lovely.

Just came on to say the same thing about Alex as a mum of an autistic child myself.

itsmyp4rty · 28/09/2023 18:25

Just came on here to see if anyone thought Alex might be autistic and see it's been spotted by several people already. The complete uncertainty of the trip is likely to be far from ideal for someone autistic.

I want them all to win! Loving this series.

I totally understood the reluctance to eat Octopus. I would simply refuse. Alex did well in eating it I thought. The background to the fish bone was awful. Christmas Day! Those memories do last. I understand the frustrations of Noel, but he needs to take a step back.

Ha ha, thought the same. The way you mimic their pronunciation when speaking to someone who doesn't speak English as their first language.

I laughed out loud at this. Her mum isn’t English though, so why she felt the need to do that I don’t know 😂

RaraRachael · 29/09/2023 10:22

I found Alex very annoying but I would have refused to eat octopus. How dare there be a baby on the bus!

It was good to see Mel enjoying the farm work - maybe that's something she could do instead of watching telly and playing Candy Crush. Agree the farmer was quite tasty - but those earrings! I'd have thought they would be a hazard.

Nice to see Harry's mum making him appreciate a bit of culture and Billy and Bonnie are amazing.

Nottheeightoutoftencats · 29/09/2023 10:31

The baby on the bus comment really hacked me off. I vividly remember the arseholes on the train when I took my then 10 week old from the South East to the North East to meet my family. A small group in their 20's spotted someone else's pushchair in luggage area and started moaning about bloody whining kids then saw me an complained again. They harped on about how annoying babies are for most of the 3 hour journey. Neither baby cried, mine slept the whole way and didn't make a single sound. When the moaners got of Durham a lovely older lady made a fantastically passive aggressive comment to them about how the carriage would now be free from irritating noise.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 29/09/2023 10:46

If anyone ever makes a comment to me about all young people being 'snowflakes' I will refer them to Billy and Bonny who are simply a joy to watch in this race.

Morty12 · 29/09/2023 13:01

Billy and Bonnie are so lovely. I agree with pp who said she probably has trauma from Billy's accident, she was only 16 when it happened and she was with him when he was being treated on the track.

If Alex does have autism, the baby on the bus comment won’t be because he hates babies , it will be the worry of sensory overload from the sound of a crying baby and not being able to escape it on a long journey.
Both my DC have autism and my DD can get very distressed by the sound of a crying baby and being on a long coach journey with a crying baby would be a nightmare for her and would be impossible for her to continue.
I know it’s not the baby or their families fault at all and they have every right to be on the coach too. But believe me if Alex does have autism which may well be undiagnosed, then being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world is so difficult and can be a nightmare at times.

Said baby is now 12 and autistic. If you can't stand other people's noise wear noise cancelling headphones. No-one takes babies on long journeys on public transport for a laugh. If you do it you do it because there isn't an alternative and being made to feel that you are totally unwelcome is crap.

I love this programme particularly Harry and Emma

Angeldelightful · 29/09/2023 20:46

Too much backStory this week and not enough trouble logistics, which is what I like! Really Hope Helene lasts the distance. Alex is so prissy, can’t bear him

We’ve just come back and it is indeed amazing. As is Cordoba.

Agreed.

DH and I went to Seville, Cordoba and Granada in March/April this year and it was fantastic. We loved the first episode, especially when Alex and his dad were spending time in Seville because we recognized where they were doing the rowing.

I find Alex quite annoying too although his dad seems fine.
Harry's mum is 2 years older than me but I'd say she looks a good 10 years old that me and my group of friends. I felt sorry for her when she said she'd missed Harry growing up as he was so young when McFly became big. Everybody thinks they're living the dream but don't think of those at home. Fun lady though.

We must be about the same age (61) and I too felt that Harry's mum seemed a lot older than 63. TBH I think he was very patient with her when they missed the bus because of her faffing. She does seem very nice though. I wonder if the programme editing plays up the dotty old lady role a bit.

Bonny and Billy do seem like lovely young people. I hope they win.

Samcro · 30/09/2023 16:29

Love billy and Bonny want them to win
im with Alex on not eating octopus 🐙 but he is a moaner

gawditswindy · 30/09/2023 17:02

I loved Harry's mum with the tiles: 'look Harry - more tiles!'

RaraRachael · 30/09/2023 18:24

@5foot5

We must be about the same age (61). Correct - and the same height too if that is the reason for your username 😁

I think they are going to find Norway very very very expensive.

No taking taxis there. Or eating out.

purpleme12 · 01/10/2023 17:53

Bump

purpleme12 · 01/10/2023 20:06

I didn't find Alex annoying like people on here.
