There was a thread I did for s1

Here is s1

So

S1 ended ITV’s three-episode police drama The Tower ended (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a38189303/itv-the-tower-ending-explained/) with Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins and rookie officer Lizzie Adama standing together at the grave of young Libyan refugee Farah, whose death Lizzie had witnessed and Sarah had been investigating.

Lizzie was not being prosecuted for her role in Farah’s death, and it looked like the one cop who could be charged in relation to the crime – Lizzie’s boss and lover, DI Shaw, who had hidden vital evidence – had frustratingly got away with it.

S2

The series opens with PC Adama returning to Farlow Police Station to be partnered with fellow officer Arif Johar (Michael Karim) by her boss and former lover DI Shaw.

The series begins with Lizzie’s return to Farlow station, where her boss and former lover, DI Kieran Shaw, assigns her to partner with Arif Johar (Michael Karim) to handle a domestic violence case involving Mark Brannon. Mark is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Georgina Teel, and causing distress to their young daughter Skye.

Lizzie successfully convinces Georgina to speak out about Mark’s actions, leading to his arrest by Lizzie and Arif. However, as the case progresses to the courtroom, Lizzie faces intense cross-examination on the witness stand, putting the case in a precarious position.

Meanwhile, Sarah Collins has transitioned to Homicide Command, led by DCI Jim Fedden, who isn’t particularly welcoming to her.

He tasks her with reopening the cold case of Tania Mills, a schoolgirl who vanished on the same day as Princess Diana’s funeral. Despite the seemingly impossible challenge, Sarah dives into the investigation, uncovering overlooked clues and benefiting from her own experiences as a teenager in 1997, the same age as Tania. As Sarah’s inquiry takes unexpected turns, her path intersects once more with Lizzie’s.

Yes! I'm on holiday right now so would normally binge watch something but this is so good I want to stretch it out!

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/08/2023 19:14

You all know I don't like to binge as like to discuss theories with you lot in my
Phone and often other people pick up on things I've missed

Don't want it to end.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/08/2023 20:52

Yes, I'm getting a Line of Duty vibe about it too.

PrincessScarlett · 31/08/2023 21:00

Oh my god, that is some pre programme warning!! 😱

PrincessScarlett · 31/08/2023 21:11

F*cking hell!

tennissquare · 31/08/2023 22:03

I really enjoyed it, best series I have watched in a while.
I read they started filming series 3 this week (they film near Manchester).

PrincessScarlett · 31/08/2023 22:12

That was superb! Nicely set up for series 3. I'm guessing series 3 will be all about Steve and Kieron going after the bad guys.

I was literally on the edge of my seat for the whole hour.

Looks like Kieron truly loves Lizzie with all the hanging around at her bedside. What on earth will he do now, particularly as she's pregnant? If he leaves Mary she is going to destroy him.

Agree it really has been the best thing I've seen in ages.

Gilmorehill · 01/09/2023 11:52

I love this series but I really don't like the way Lizzie goes off and does what she wants. She could have waited outside for back up. Skye was not in any immediate danger. I think you'd be in a lot of trouble if you did that in real life.

butterpuffed · 01/09/2023 15:19

This series was so good I didn't want it to end .

I agree that Lizzie is too impetuous , always ends up in trouble . Good to see they're already filming a new series .

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/09/2023 19:28

Seen

That was good

I was wondering if the friend killed her

But turns out it was the teacher and then letting his wife blame herself for years

Pregnant

Wifey isn't going to like that !!!

Glad s3 will be filmed

Just finished. Excellent series.

I guessed about the ginger guy and I thought about her confession not being right - but only seconds ahead of both being shown. Totally kept you thinking.

Lizzy had no need to go in, she could have waited. He was never going to hurt the daughter. That wife is going to go absolutely mental on her when she finds out she's pregnant.

Nice that Sarah seems to have found someone nice.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 02/09/2023 07:37

Brilliant series. Gemma Whelan is superb.

PrincessScarlett · 02/09/2023 09:01

Gemma Whelan is superb but I also think the whole cast is excellent which is why, combined with great writing, this was such a good watch.

Janiie · 02/09/2023 18:25

Really enjoyed this. Up there with LOD and Happy Valley imo for being quite gripping and the characters whilst not all likeable still very watchable.

One thing that puzzled me was the mother viewing her daughter's remains. It was a very powerful scene and so moving but do they actually do that with skeletal remains? We had it with the body up the chimney drama too I'd have just thought once decomposed there wouldn't be any viewing.

Looking forward to series 3. Gemma Whelan is excellent in this as is Arif, Steve her ex partner and the brilliant Elaine. Not a big fan of Lizzie, so hapless and to be shagging her boss too and now pregnant 🙄.

LadyEloise1 · 02/09/2023 18:47

@Janiie I too wondered about the protocol- the mother of the missing girl watching them dig and being allowed to view the remains.
Is that allowed in the UK ?

I'm also not a huge fan of "If there's a child in danger I can't promise I won't rush in Lizzie" having an affair with her boss despite knowing he has a wife and child.
She's willing to upend that child's life when it all goes pear shaped between her boss and his wife.
I know he's the one who is married, who made the vows.
And it's only a tv show.

Although it did seem ironic Sarah telling Lizzie off for rushing in against protocol to save Skye and she herself had rushed in against protocol to save Lizzie.

I hope we see more of Elaine and Arif in the next one and less of Lizzie. And DI Shaw needs a haircut imo. That greased back bouffant more suited for a part in Grease.

CherryogDog · 03/09/2023 08:27

I recorded this so I could fast forward through the ads, but it cut the ending of e4. The last I saw was Sarah saying "have a grape" to Lizzie.
Did I miss much?

martinisforeveryone · 03/09/2023 11:39

it did seem ironic Sarah telling Lizzie off for rushing in against protocol to save Skye and she herself had rushed in against protocol to save Lizzie.

She did explain that though as the fact that Skye wasn't in imminent danger from her father, but Lizzie was. It's a moot point imo because a very nasty hostage situation was likely to develop.

Gilmorehill · 03/09/2023 13:23

I agree I'd like to see more of Elaine (brilliant character) and Arif (much better police officer than Lizzie). Unfortunately, with Lizzie announcing she's pregnant, I'm guessing this will be a big storyline.
In the first episode, there was a comment made (can't remember by who) about Elaine leaving early to get her dcs. My friend, who has no dcs, also works the Met. She has complained a number of times about things not getting done because female officers were leaving early to pick up their kids. I wonder if it's a tough place to work if you are a mother.
