So

S1 ended ITV’s three-episode police drama The Tower ended (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a38189303/itv-the-tower-ending-explained/) with Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins and rookie officer Lizzie Adama standing together at the grave of young Libyan refugee Farah, whose death Lizzie had witnessed and Sarah had been investigating.

Lizzie was not being prosecuted for her role in Farah’s death, and it looked like the one cop who could be charged in relation to the crime – Lizzie’s boss and lover, DI Shaw, who had hidden vital evidence – had frustratingly got away with it.

S2

The series opens with PC Adama returning to Farlow Police Station to be partnered with fellow officer Arif Johar (Michael Karim) by her boss and former lover DI Shaw.

The series begins with Lizzie’s return to Farlow station, where her boss and former lover, DI Kieran Shaw, assigns her to partner with Arif Johar (Michael Karim) to handle a domestic violence case involving Mark Brannon. Mark is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Georgina Teel, and causing distress to their young daughter Skye.

Lizzie successfully convinces Georgina to speak out about Mark’s actions, leading to his arrest by Lizzie and Arif. However, as the case progresses to the courtroom, Lizzie faces intense cross-examination on the witness stand, putting the case in a precarious position.

Meanwhile, Sarah Collins has transitioned to Homicide Command, led by DCI Jim Fedden, who isn’t particularly welcoming to her.

He tasks her with reopening the cold case of Tania Mills, a schoolgirl who vanished on the same day as Princess Diana’s funeral. Despite the seemingly impossible challenge, Sarah dives into the investigation, uncovering overlooked clues and benefiting from her own experiences as a teenager in 1997, the same age as Tania. As Sarah’s inquiry takes unexpected turns, her path intersects once more with Lizzie’s.

This is gripping!

ShadyCat · 29/08/2023 22:35

Thank you for posting about this, I missed it before! Just started season 1

PrincessScarlett · 29/08/2023 22:35

So, my guess is that Brennan is going to go after Lizzie and we're going to get some sort of hostage situation.

Surprising moment for me tonight was Kieron being asked to lead a taskforce to bring down a big villain. So, it looks like he might not be all bad/dodgy afterall, bit of an undercover character. Although when his wife finds out about him and Lizzie she may well end up putting his life in danger by unwittingly outing him.

I'm absolutely hooked. To me it seems better than series 1 but maybe that's because we know the characters.

Loving Elaine too. Her being demotivated, putting up with inappropriate behaviour and shitty work colleagues but having some real humanity to her is intriguing. She looks like she's been overlooked for years, given the crap admin jobs and Sarah is going to really allow her to shine in her job.

LadyEloise1 · 30/08/2023 08:48

It's very good.
Thanks again for the "heads up" @Blondeshavemorefun

I vaguely remember watching the first season and disliking the Emmet J Scanlan character.

Does anyone else watch now and think of those recent court cases relating to deviant police officers and their awful crimes ?

Def more gripping

Who do we think killed Tania ? The violin teacher from e2

I didn't reliese they were still having an affair - Lizzie and boss

He lies so easily so I def wouldn't trust him Lizzie / esp to him wife when in bed with his lover !

Tho wifey will bring him down

R.E.M. the phone she hid in the coffee cup in a bag in s1

OP posts:
PrincessScarlett · 30/08/2023 21:47

Yep I reckon violin teacher. Sarah has just realised they were digging in the wrong spot.

PrincessScarlett · 30/08/2023 22:01

Won't Mary get in trouble for deliberately withholding vital evidence? Or I guess she could pretend she's stumbled across the phone in Kieron's belongings.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2023 22:21

In the car park

And for a police lady she has no security when someone breaks into your own home Lizzie

But lucky for you shagging or else you would be eating pankcakes

Here comes the mystery coffee up phone. Wifey is pissed off

Recap e3

OP posts:
LadyEloise1 · 31/08/2023 09:16

I've only watched up to episode 2 but found it chilling what Kieran's wife said she'd do if he was lying re the affair with Lizzie. The scene cut to Kieran saying goodbye to his daughter and telling her he loved her.
I felt it implied murder suicide.

martinisforeveryone · 31/08/2023 09:42

I'm fairly engrossed but as I did a quick viewing to catch up I feel like there's a lot going on to remember. I follow it at the time and then reading the recaps, thanks for those by the way, there are a few gaps in my memory. I think I need to read them all again.

Matthew hanging around outside the station to speak to Lizzie was very chilling and gave me a feeling of trouble to come, which it surely did.

I'm having difficulty buying in to the relationship between Lizzie and Kieran though.

I like Elaine as a character, the bit where she reached out at the viewing of Georgina's body and said I'm a mum too, was brief, but moving.

ilovebrie8 · 31/08/2023 09:49

Am watching and like to! Trying to remember S1 what is the deal with the phone his wife has? I vaguely remember she hid it and he doesn’t know…am guessing it’s v significant and she’ll use it against him …whose phone is and why does she have it/why was it hidden? Thanks 😊

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/08/2023 10:04

I love a recap. I often miss stuff

I can't R.E.M. the phone thing

They raided his house. She stuck phone in takeaway coffee drink in waterproof bag

Not sure what was on the phone

OP posts:
PrincessScarlett · 31/08/2023 11:32

The mobile phone belongs to Farah, the girl that went off the tower with Hadley in series 1. Sarah was desperate to locate the phone as it apparently has video footage on it of Hadley racially abusing her and her father. In the enquiry the racism was covered up. Sarah and Steve believed there was a possibility that Hadley was responsible for Farah going off the tower as Hadley was after Farah's phone. Kieron was next on the scene and I think took the phone from the crime scene to cover up any wrong doing in his department.

I've got a feeling that Kieron is going to meet a sticky end.

PrincessScarlett · 31/08/2023 11:32

I think I've remembered it right from series 1.

ilovebrie8 · 31/08/2023 11:48

Brilliant thanks @PrincessScarlett ! Yep I think Kieron is going to come a cropper…his wife suspects he’s still seeing Lizzie too.

PrincessScarlett · 31/08/2023 12:05

Kieron is such an intriguing character. Very unlikeable in series 1, covers things up but episode 3 last night showed that he does want to go after the big villains and perhaps is dodgy with day to day procedures but done for the greater good. Even Steve said to him he admires him going after the big villain. And Steve hates him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/08/2023 12:35

Thanks @PrincessScarlett
