I watched it, and nearly died laughing.

I think Tara's face when she saw the size of those maternity pads was priceless!!

JingleyJen · 28/02/2008 22:10

sed it - do you think it will be repeated?

Journalist Dawn Porter goes in search of the truth about childbirth. Like many young women, Dawn terrified by the prospect of childbirth. As well as from the pain, she worries that her body will be damaged beyond repair and the prospect that sex will never be the same again. Finding her friends unwilling to spill the beans about what it's really like to give birth, she seeks out a first-time mum who will let her witness a birth firsthand.

DH wouldn't watch this and wouldn't leave the room so I could might tune in for the repeats, Dawn Porter is fantastic.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 29/02/2008 08:37

I'm just watching this on the bbc iplayer.

I wasn't a fan of dawn, I've only ever seen her size zero programme that was a bit shite, but she's really lovely and funny in this.

Flier · 29/02/2008 09:08

she did a dirtydancing one as well which was really good.

beansprout · 29/02/2008 09:10

I saw her at my hospital when I was preg and wondered if she was making a programme....

Lulumama · 29/02/2008 09:13

i thought it was great , and was so pleased that the two births that were shown were NORMAL!!! i thought dawn was being a bit, well, daft, and it always surprises me when grown women don;t actually know the mechanics of birth and how it works

'oh, i thought the placenta dissolved' PMSL at that

she looked sh*t scared when meredith was in the birth pool saying she wanted to push and the DH had gone to find the midwife!

i am glad that she was a lot more positive about birth afterwards

the birth guru was ace, am going to grow my hair and wear flowing robes from now on

IndigoMoon · 29/02/2008 09:17

i enjoyed this too. i like dawn porter - her best prog was the dirty dancing one though.

my bil was here while it was one and was most disconterted about it all (he has no children and knows nothing about childbirth)

Piffle · 29/02/2008 09:49

I heart her she did Dawn goes Lesbain last week, fucking epic hysterical lady
RESPECT!
Last night was great, relaly funny and actualyl quite an important programme
And god did I weep at those magical births
Thank the heavens for her showing how good it cna be

Piffle · 29/02/2008 09:50

oh and great male midwife and all.
Bet he wishes his job was always that easy

Lizzybuf · 29/02/2008 09:50

Another really enjoyable program from Dawn..

I just hope my freind from work who is 20 +_ weeks pregnant didn't see it.....especially the bit with the scissors (been there done that!...got the scars (too much info?))........
i couldn't watch stuff like this when I was pregnant...I really didn't want to know.

Yeah birth guru...who you trying to kid?
Did she actually have any children (not by C-Section) herself)

Piffle · 29/02/2008 09:54

she wanted to demystify birth thats all.
She did a bloody good job of it

bethoo · 29/02/2008 10:06

it bought it all back to me!! the pain!!!! ant beleive i am gong to go throug hit all again in Oct!!!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 29/02/2008 10:14

aw it made me cry, what lovely births!

But damn you all, I'm now watching dawn gets naked which is great too, so another hour wasted when I should be cleaning and working!

spugs · 29/02/2008 11:23

just watched this on bbc i player, made me get a bit teary but then im due in 3 1/2 weeks. do you think it would make good/suitable viewing for my 15 yr old cousin whos due in june? might tell her to watch it

VictorianSqualor · 29/02/2008 11:29

Dare I watch this?
Due in 5 weeks

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 29/02/2008 11:33

I think so spugs. It shows the harsh reality, but you can really feel the emotion when the babies are actually born which makes any scariness easier to handle I think.

I reccomend dawn gets naked too, it was brilliant.

Piffle · 29/02/2008 11:34

dawn goes lesbian was ace too
DP loves her we shriek with laughter

VictorianSqualor · 29/02/2008 12:02

OH MY GOD, SHE JUST CUT HER WITH SCISSORS.

BiancaCastafiore · 29/02/2008 12:07

I have just finished watching Dawn gets naked on iplayer too - loved it
Must dash about getting everything I should have been doing this morning done now, then schedule in some time to watch Dawn goes Lesbian later!

Joekate · 29/02/2008 12:07

My partner has very kindly reminded me that, after the birth of our dd last year, I was shown the placenta - and I thanked it for all it's hard work over the last 9 months. Don't remember it personally - God bless Air & Gass!

Loved the programme, welled up at the lovely births and got really broody again!
