We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through all three series of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We are currently nearing the end of Spooks series 5. Interesting - I’m not so upset by Adam’s death as by some screen deaths. It was sort of inevitable, and we’ve worried about his close shaves so often before.

It doesn't really compare with Elvis' death, does it? I have honestly never been so affected by a screen death as it was by his. I was almost in mourning. It took me days to come round after that.

Yes have to agree the death of Elvis was heart wrenching which of course shows how much we had engaged with the character. This has made me realise I was wrong to say I preferred RA to RPJ. The facts were I had seen RA in roles that I thoroughly enjoyed (eg John Thornton in North & South) whereas at that stage nothing RPJ had done appealed. Now as Adam Carter for me he has come into his own and I feel sad at his passing. Proving I suppose that actors excel in some parts and not others. So it is the character they portray that matters. CJ is another in our Girl. Loved the way BA portrayed him in series 1 and 2 but then his character was altered and went a bit flat.
LP as D'Artagnan was good but he shone as EH. Waiting now to see how RA captures our interest in Spooks.

Totally unrelated to most of this but an elderly friend of mine wanted the DVD of Four Weddings and a Funeral. I watched it with her. Not seen it in years. I recognised David Haig as Major Cadman from Soldier Soldier and Anna Chancellor from Spooks.
