From memory (which admittedly is a bit ropey these days) the original canteen of cutlery story went on for weeks! Sounds boring, but it was a very clever unfolding of the extent Derek's enmeshment with his mother, and Mavis's despair and exasperation. It was like an 'AIBU?' or 'Relationships' thread on here before they existed.

It is the obsession with crime that irks me. There are plenty of police shows on TV and it is not really my thing. Not sure why they have to turn Corrie into one.

Absolutely. What Corrie has is people - characters - and they are its strength and stay. People are interesting. Yes you need events to happen, but how the characters react to minor events can be fascinating, if well written, not just how they react to murders, gangsters and drugs.

I completely agree with the above messages. Coronation Street needs to be character led NOT issue led.

Abi looks great. The new haircut and colour really suit her, although I have a suspicion there must’ve been some tweaking of some sort also.

Is there a difference between cassie and abbie? I mean they look the same, same turkish looking teeth although i know claire sweeney has always had them i her mouth and have never liked her, but cheekbones almost up to the eye balls, no eyebag and both meant to be ex junkies? give me strength.

I cannot stand these drug addict storylines, why can’t we just have some normal day to day interaction, it’s so flipping tedious. You know what I would like to see is families around the breakfast table, you never see families together anymore, it’s always piecemeal, Gail is never in her own home, Ken is missing in action, Aggie is probably buried under some patio in Birmingham, there is no heart to it anymore it actually makes me sad what it has become.

Claire Sweeney looks great in interviews, I rather admire her for being the sort of actor who's willing to look rough if the part calls for it.

Teeth are tricky though.

All they had to do was get her to wear a thin teeth guard in a dingy yellow colour to give a more realistic look (similar to what you wear when applying teeth bleach) but perhaps the actress would not agree to that. Who knows?

I think the teeth work as its well known that drug addiction rots your teeth.
It's plausible that she might have got cheap " turkey teeth" done.
