I hadn’t heard of bump before so just looked it up and put it in here! I liked Gameface recently. I assume you have done motherland. Also like two doors down but you maybe need to be Scottish for that one.

Ghosts - the BBC version ( on iPlayer). There’s also an American version, but I haven’t watched that so don’t know if it’s as good.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 04/08/2023 21:59

Thank you, I’ve seen Motherland and Ghosts and love them! I’ll have a look at Gameface.

Detectorists is brilliant and back on Netflix
Other obvious ones are The Good Place, Schitts Creek, Space Force...

Twoshoesnewshoes · 04/08/2023 22:04

Oh yeah Schitts Creek, thanks. Haven’t heard of Space Force so I’ll look that up too.
I liked Outlaws too.

We're watching Detectorists. I love it. Gentle, funny and quintessentially British.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/08/2023 23:04

Ghosts US
Similar characters and stories, but after the first 2 or 3 episodes, the stories change. The US version stands up well on its own.

We're watching Detectorists. I love it. Gentle, funny and quintessentially British.

Car Share is similar, I that it is principally about the relationship between 2 friends. It's not quite as subtle and nuanced at Detectorists, but still very good.

The Power of Parker - just binged it. Check out the thread. Very funny! On iPlayer. Great 90s tunes too!

The Cleaner, Am I Being Unreasonable

MeinKraft · 04/08/2023 23:16

I've been watching Not Going Out recently. I've been having a bit of a shit time and it's oddly soothing, and if you give it proper attention it can be really funny.

Thanks for the recommendation

If you like Motherland, have you tried Cstastrophe? It was on channel 4, should be on catch up. Staged on BBC iplayer is also very funny- David Tennant and Michael Sheen playing versions of themselves.

My go to when I want funny escapism is Modern Family or Superstore (Netflix I think) they are both great and there’s loads of episodes!

Coffeedrinker7 · 04/08/2023 23:26

Oh, and Derry Girls, also channel 4

CrapBucket · 04/08/2023 23:27

Community is a nice funny series as well, bit like Superstore - short episodes and plenty of likeable characters__. Oh and Brooklyn 99.

BerylWiddicombe · 04/08/2023 23:37

Avoidance on BBC iplayer
Catastrophe on All4
Bad Sisters Apple TV

LizzieSiddal · 05/08/2023 08:01

Yes Catastrophe is brilliant.
