For me it would be the one where Big and Carrie start their affair. It’s captivating and heartbreaking in equal measure.

“Not only have you ruined my marriage, you’ve ruined my lunch.”

I love Natasha and can't stand Carrie

I loved this line too!!!

Lottapianos · 30/08/2023 20:03

Natasha was a class act 👍 Carrie's behaviour was outrageous but she did look SENSATIONAL in the newspaper print dress 😍

I remember thinking to myself how she really shouldn’t have worn such an amazing dress when going to face the woman whose husband she’d been sleeping with.

You think she’d at least have had the decency to try and look a little bit rough and shitty 😂

Not sure which episode it was and ultimately not my favourite whole episode but the one when Steve's mum goes missing and Miranda has to find her, gives her a bath, and the nanny is proud of her. I just bawled my eyes out at that part.

Yes, I was going to say this is my most poignant one.
Her 'Nanny' (the one who replaces Miranda's bedside vibrator with a virgin Mary Icon 😂) says:
"What you did.. That was Love"

It was just perfect.

Needhelp101 · 31/08/2023 02:02

Far too many but particularly The Catch. Harry and Charlotte's disastrous (but lovely) wedding, Stanny ripping the piss out of Carrie for the sex with the jackrabbit ("I'd better... Hop to it?"), Miranda setting herself on fire during the speeches before being doused with champagne by Anthony, and an unexpectedly moving last line... "Because I had my safety net".

Wonderful series.

Episode called 'A Woman's right to shoes' season 6. I watched it as a sixteen year old nearly twenty years ago and I remember thinking 'I can live my life how I want to.' The episode is about choosing to remain childfree, even though this is not the path I wanted in life, I was the opposite and wanted to become a mother and did, I remember it giving me a sense of confidence to go and live my life to the full.

GarlicGrace · 31/08/2023 02:35

You're all so romantic! And shoe-obsessed!

My two favourites were both Sam stories - the one where she tries to dye her pubes 😂 and when she wears a wig to give a presentation while undergoing chemo, then rips it off saying "Oh, fuck it. That's better." All the other women at the breast cancer charity stand up and remove their wigs! It's almost a Spartacus moment.

The one where Charlotte realises she's been a dick about Harry. She asks if maybe he could consider calling her or asking her on a date. Then he says that's not good enough and proposes. I could watch that over and over.

I love charlotte's story arc in the original series. She's the one who I felt really developed as a character.

I agree so much about Charlotte. Couldn't decide which Charlotte episode exactly, but maybe the one where she realises about her behaviour with Harry. He says something like 'I knew people thought you were too good for me, but I didn't realise you thought that too'

That may be a real misquote! I can't remember.

MenopauseSucks · 31/08/2023 04:44

When Samatha talks about her lover having funky spunk...
Carrie suggests writing to Martha Stewart and imagines her advice of a hint-a-mint!
Plus Miranda saying sagely 'well it's never exactly been a trip to Baskin-Robbins'.
Hilarious!!!

LittleBearPad · 31/08/2023 05:05

So many lovely episodes

Harry and Charlotte at the synagogue ‘mixer’ when he proposes is so lovely.

The cockerels episode makes me smile ‘they have a very lovely life’

Carrie and Big falling in the pond and the big red wall.

Miranda and Steve at Brady’s first birthday

Celia24 · 31/08/2023 05:11

@ricekrispi me too. I love that episode as it just hits SO hard at the end.

I actually love the first episode just because it's the beginning of everything. Runners up, I love Carrie in the fashion show for Vogue & I always liked the episode where Big leaves New York and they have that dance to Moon River. Feels like the beginning of when Big starts to open up.

CrazyArmadilloLady · 31/08/2023 05:19

My favourites are already mentioned, so I’m just going to throw in my least favourites.

Carrie to Aidan - ‘you have to forgive me’ on repeat. No, he doesn’t. And anyway, stop begging.

The one where Samantha moves into the Meat Packing district, takes on the trannies, and then they’re best friends and end up partying in the rooftop …. to me, the most cringe scene of entire franchise is Carrie strutting for the trannies 😬😱😬😱

It’s Samantha’s new place, it’s Samantha who’s befriended the trannies and it’s Samantha who got them an invite to the party.

But it’s Carrie who does the ‘everyone look at Queen Me’ strut?? Why…..?!?

Just proved that the show was all about SJP to an utterly ridiculous degree.

I ❤️ NY was a post-911 dedication to the city, wasn’t it?

Yup

I really hate the episode where Miranda washes Steve's mum because it epitomises the dynamic that I hated about that relationship.

It always felt as though the writers felt Miranda needed to be taken down a peg to be worthy of Steve but what does Steve ever do to be worthy of her?

Love that episode.

I love the one where Charlotte takes on that little dog and calls her Elizabeth Taylor. And I also love the one where Elizabeth Taylor gets her period just before the Dog Show and Charlotte shamelessly flirts with the judge to make sure ET still wins the competition 😂

And I love it when ET has a little gang bang in the Dog Park and ends up pregnant and Charlotte tells ET that she “can’t look at her right now”.

I love Charlotte - I think she was my favourite character ❤️

Oh yes, I forgot about this episode! Love the jackrabbit sex 😂

And then when ET gives birth and she shouts something like "don't worry Elizabeth Taylor, mummy's coming". Such a mum thing to do, get mad at your kids but be there for them when they really need you no matter what. (Although ironically in AJLT she's probably been there for her kids a bit too much and turned them into spoilt brats).

I love Samantha talking about blow jobs, she says something like "you have no idea what we're dealing with: teeth placement, gag reflex and that's before we even get to the swallowing. Honey, there's a reason they call it a job"

ETA I looked it up and I wasn't far off!!
Samantha : You men have no idea what we're dealing with down there. Teeth placement, and jaw stress, and suction, and gag reflex, and all the while bobbing up and down, moaning and trying to breathe through our noses. Easy? Honey, they don't call it a job for nothin'.

Lottapianos · 31/08/2023 16:25

😂
So perfectly written! One of the best Samantha moments ever

When Samantha takes her wig off

MrsHaroldRobbins · 31/08/2023 17:15

So many!

I love the episode when Miranda first sleeps with Steve and then she wants him to leave the apartment. She's setting her alarm for the morning and she says something like "See you around, great sex!" and then later he calls and wants her to see the beautiful moon outside. I really love their relationship development. Also the episode where they get back together after splitting up in the laundry room - is it Brady's first birthday party?

And the Staten Island episode where Charlotte gets drunk and Samantha goes off with the fireman.

And the Post it note one when Carrie is trying to get out of getting a fine for smoking a doobie and the police officer quotes the note "I can't. I'm sorry. Don't hate me".

Also, for those of you who have watched And Just Like That, how amazing was Carrie's black and white dress in the last episode!

lollipoprainbow · 31/08/2023 17:25

Wish it could be repeated on Netflix. I have all the dvd's but no dvd player at present. Reading all the quotes are making me so nostalgic to binge watch it all over again.

The one where she is trying to be friends with Big when he started seeing Natasha and they go out for lunch. Carrie says something like ‘let’s only talk about our relationships when they get serious’ and there’s a big long pause and Big goes ‘it is serious’ I felt that sucker punch along with Carrie.

And then she trips up going up the stairs. Something I would do. I really felt for her that episode. And the one before that when they are at the Hamptons and she doesnt know hes back from Paris.
