Anyone else find the Kenco kid’s football advert annoying

It really annoys me:
Mean old man complaining “you can’t play here”
Beardy dad drinking coffee knows what happened despite having no view of incident - just by daughter’s sad face.
Beardy dad solution - galvanizes community (all welcome except old people) who paint existing goal posts and white lines to magically create a pitch.

Why weren’t they playing football on the huge football pitch at the back of the house in the first place?

Honestly Its like an ad from the apprentice - but they are usually funny

Totally agree!

Stereo type scruffy entry/alley with dumped furniture
Stereo typical old man complaining

Dad takes matters in to his own hands and suddenly there's a huge empty tree lined field were they can mark out a football pitch ... obviously nobody had thought of that before🙄

Yep. We were taking about the lunacy of suddenly discovering a field with goal posts that you can just take over. If the travelling community did that, it'd be uproar, but for kenco man it's a heart warming tale. Bollocks to it.

I though I was alone in finding this so irritating. I can't bear any of it and will not buy the stupid coffee because I'm so irrationally annoyed

I have found my people! I can't stand that advert. Of course they 'can't play here' it's the back of someone's house. And why weren't they on the field in the first place? It's on all the time, and the music alone sets my teeth on edge.

Advert is the worst. The pitch is a hockey pitch ffs. So many real grassroots football volunteers they could use

Floralnomad · 01/10/2023 01:01

Totally agree , surely the huge empty field ,even without the goal posts and marked out football field, would have been better than the alley .

And of course it has to be a coffee company and a bloke that gives the girls their righteous access to football.

We see you, variously, global south exploiter and instrument of patriarchal oppression.

I hate the way it looks like Kenco are "funding" the creation of new pitches for grassroots football. I find the advert a bit misleading. What has coffee got to do with magically mowing a field. Like we need more bloody football.
