Tennis: WIMBLEDON nearing the end

I totally forgot she existed Raahh last I saw was some VT of Pat Cash showing her how to play tennis!

Jane I've a suspicion we won't see her next year.

I know she wasn't involved with the finals weekend at all, last year.

DH has just taken the dog and children out for a wander. The silence is deafening. I wish I had a 4th set to enjoy while they're out.

That match point was so amazingly beautiful. I was messaging with my daughter throughout, and we've decided we're Tunisian/Spanish this weekend, so I am making a tagine tomorrow, and Spanish meatballs with chorizo on Sunday. My partner is on a day off, and has been very tolerant of the screams. And she's even put a bottle of fizz in the fridge!

So fed up with the Djok match I came on here to catch up on your posts guys. The perfect antidote!

Oh I’d not thought about themed food mazylou - although I was hoping to not be cooking but watching tennis all weekend - maybe DH will step up!

I had occasion to walk about Wimbledon town centre this morning. It was full of people coming from the station, so many in summer suits and ladies in summer frocks and heels having to wear coats over the top and crouching under umbrellas. I did feel sorry for them dodging the puddles.

Doubt there'll be much call for Serbian food. I might look up some Czech recipes. Not that I'll cook them or anything.

I’m not sure that the Czech Republic or Croatia are that well known for their cuisine

Czech cuisine seems to consist of dumplings and cabbage (I’m sure there’s more to it than that!) so think I’ll stick with Spanish food

Looking forward to watching the women’s final later - I’m hoping for a good match. I hope that Vondrousova isn’t overwhelmed by the occasion (although she was in the French Open final a few years ago) but think that Ons will win - she seems very determined this year

I think I’m enjoying the women’s tennis more than the men’s this year (although I think that’s down to a certain person)

Probs already been discussed already but its been brilliant to see some longer/closer womens matches this year. Often they don't get to 3 sets and it's all over in an hour. Ons Jabeur v Sabalenka was great.

And would love for Alcaraz to win tomorrow....just for the "it ain't happening" comment!

Djok is vile! I think he’s given up trying to get people to like him and this is the true Djok coming out (which we always knew was there). I bet even his wife doesn’t like him that much!

Just watching the clip of Rafa yesterday reminded me how lovely and smiling and sporting he was/is especially compared with Djok. I really hope that Alcaraz wins tomorrow and wipes the smug smirk off his face!

Welcome Fizboss - I agree - women’s tennis does seem to have become more competitive and there have been some good matches recently - hoping for a good, close final today

Yes @Fizbosshoes the women are more evenly matched now so you don't have one person dominating and it's great to watch. There's also far less screeching than a few years ago when it seemed they were all at it.

I googled his opponent the other day during the doubles and clicked on what appeared to be a story about him but was actually a porn site and all these other pages started popping up. I was worried it would take over my phone! Be careful out there 😅
