I saw her dress!!!Grin Wink

spacedonkey · 12/12/2004 22:42

I was wondering if Matthew Pinsent has won it before?

MoHoHo2 · 12/12/2004 22:44

But didn't you think she was just a bit too 'muscley' for that dress??

Or am I being a jealous b*tch Envy ?

feastofstevenmom · 12/12/2004 22:45

wish my problem was only being too fit and muscly for figure hugging dresses Grin

spacedonkey · 12/12/2004 22:45

She did have just the tiniest hint of Dick Emery I thought

BigGayDad · 12/12/2004 22:46

Probably...

But I'm a bloke so I'm easily impressed by women showing flesh!!

SilentBite · 12/12/2004 22:56

Pah to the bloody rowers winning team of the year

heymissytoe · 12/12/2004 23:58

?Blush I thought she did not look comfortable in that dress at all - to the point where I had to switch over? Good on her for winning but poo poo to whoever put her in that dress - not just too musclely for the girl but they should have given her something more sophisticated to wear. Maybe I am getting too old Smile

\link{http://sport.guardian.co.uk/athletics/theobserver/story/0,10541,1372101,00.html\The Observer} on Kelly.

Love the bit about her outfit for Parkinson and Tom Cruise - bless - she is not a dress girl. I think she needs a personal shopper - she should have had something long, without cutouts (or else trousers) and not those silly shoes (they were responsible for the Dick Emery impression, sd!)

heymissytoe · 13/12/2004 00:31

She may not like track suit and trainers for special occasions but you know it may have looked better than what she was wearing tonight? A nice suit ( though even Sue presenting got that wrong - why was her waistband hoiked so high and so tight around the tummy? - uh uh this is not good.) Or simple top and lovey karen millen trousers then lovely stillettos any style will just finish outfit off because trousers will cover them up a bit and then shoes don't take over - or infact anything Karen Millen will look good dammit - what were they thinking? big sigh and shake of head.

JoolsTide · 13/12/2004 08:29

call me a bitch - but that dress! well - I didn't really like it anyway and I thought she looked MOST uncomfortable in it and didn't suit her figure at all.

However Kelly herself is FAB!

FestiveFrex · 13/12/2004 08:33

Oh get over yourselves, girls! Can't you just rejoice in her wonderful achievements rather than btching about what she was wearing?? Did anyone even notice* what Matthew Pinsent was wearing?

I don't think the dress was Kelly's choice from what she was saying, rather as the dress for Parkinson was chosen for her. Her life to date has been spent in army fatigues or sportswear. She probably has no idea what suits her otherwise so relies on others to advise her.

I think she is wonderfully unspoiled, very natural and extremely willing to comply with every request made of her - of which there are now thousands as a result of her Olympic achievements. Give the girl a break.

spacedonkey · 13/12/2004 11:02

FestiveFrex I completely agree. KH is an inspirational character and I was so glad she won. Matthew Pinsent thoroughly deserved to win too.

And yes I did notice what he was wearing. A rather dull suit. He really is a big slab of a man isn't he?

Leave my Matthew alone lady
or else
Wink

Flumberrysauce · 13/12/2004 11:04

Did you hear her speech though, rubbish - good job shes good at running.

spacedonkey · 13/12/2004 11:06

Well actually I thought her speech was very good considering how nervous she was ... you could see she was fighting back tears and it was taking every ounce of her energy just to keep it together!

OP posts:
Flumberrysauce · 13/12/2004 11:17

ok I am just mean then. I quite liked the dress though.

She's pretty amazing considering what bad luck she';s had

zubb · 13/12/2004 11:41

I thought Kelly was great - and who cares what she wears anyway - she's had an amazing year and really deserved this award.
Surprised that the rowers got the team one (thought it would be the Ryder cup team), but then as Pinsent wasn't going to win the individual one people may have voted for him in that.

heymissytoe · 13/12/2004 13:49

I did think Kelly's speech was good actually and she thoroughly deserved the award and yes I am just being shallow as regards the dress Smile Wink - but from what I could see Matthew wore good suit - fitting for the occassion - sport awards like that do call for boring well fitting suit or way not fussy cocktail dress - trust me I only notice because I am shallow and hate it when I get my own dresscode wrong which is most of the time Wink it's so easy to wear the wrong clothes Grin

Davrosthesnowwoman · 13/12/2004 18:24

Love Kelly, so natrual and modest you almost forget what she's done! She did look a bit Jack Lemmon in the dress, it obviously isn't her usual choice so good for her wearing something really way out for such a special night. Heard her on Woman's Hour today saying that the Parkinson people were trying to persuade her to wear a tracksuit, she nearly agreed but then they told her that Tom Cruise would be on and she said "no way" so they had to find black trousers and top for her.

JoolsTide · 13/12/2004 18:25

Jack Lemmon - LOL (good description Grin)!
