Ice Road Truckers - Canada

You know, I forgot how fucking cold it is up there.

No, I didn't live in Canada. I lived in Colorado and had an ex h who liked to ice climb, particularly outside Canmore in winter.

Eyelashes freezing up, sunburnt eyeballs, face gaiter sticking to your face, fogged up ski goggles, plugging in your motor at night, driving over ice.

I forgot about all that!

For a good reason, methinks.

Saw this programme tonight for the first time. Those guys are nuts. You couldn't pay me enought to drive a xx tonne truck over ice! fab programme though, I spent most of it wondering if the ice was going to give way.

expat, I am from not too far from Canmore (In Canadian terms!!)

I don't miss those cold winters one bit. I remember getting frostburn on my thumb and finger from STARTING THE CAR!!! - The ignition thingy was that cold. The skin turned black, then peeled and everything

My dh is a trucker and keeps threatening to do this too - but I agree they are being paid "danger money".

They must be absoulutely mental - if you think of the accidents we have here involving lorries you can only imagine the consequences of something going wrong out there.
