Do you have a Friends reference for everything?

Can't see something that is blindingly obvious to everyone else? Like Rachel looking at the baby scan.

Hair gone a bit frizzy? Like Monica in Barbados.

Someone nicking your food? "Joey doesn't share food".

And of course "Pivot!"

And many more.

Great when people get it but feel like a bit of a nerd when they don't!

I was on glue.

I watched Friends but am not the most avid fan or rewatcher, so just 'How YOU doin'?' when I think someone is being sleazy/trying to come on to somebody. Or someone I fancy comes on the telly.

My real go-to is Black Books – they really do have a quote or a situation for everything.

Ahhh I love this thread! There's a sphynx cat that lives on my parents' road and I always think of Mrs Whiskerson when I see it - "stupid cat that looks like a hand!"

What is your cat doing in one of my bowls? Oh its not, im defrosting a chicken.

There's a thread about how to repel dangerous dogs on AIBU.
One person pointed out that cows kill more people per year than dogs.
Another poster said they were much more likely to encounter a dog rather than a cow on a walk, so it's a moot point.
Cow? Moot point?
Are they trying to make us post Friends quotes?!

Bbq1 · 07/06/2023 08:08

Not Friends but US Office and Tge Big Bang definitely. Only within our family circle though as most other people probably wouldn't get it.

I didn't watch Friends until my late 20s. The show was aimed at my age group but I was busy being a little punk rock and out skateboarding in the 00s.

I'm currently watching the whole series for the 2nd time and I don't know if its because I'm in my 30s or what - but it's SO funny.

I remember my sisters pain of waiting for a whole week between shows. 😂 and yes, I reference it a lot.

Ross creeps me out though.... ahhhh

KatnissNeverdone · 07/06/2023 08:23

I do Phoebe's sexy dance when I'm trying to entice my husband. "So this is my bra"

And always "My eyes. My eyes!!!!"

Grin And if you couldn’t get quite the right thing from the shops: ‘I got you… crème de menthe.’
or if you fall/stumble, ‘Fell off me chair/down the steps/ off the pavement to some extent.’
For vague choices/options: ‘This is misc and these ones are… other.’

I could honestly go on all day.

If ever confused and don’t know the answer…”Paper! Snow! A ghost!” 😂

Maves · 08/06/2023 00:08

We do....a favourite one is Ross's "precious" when he was at the airport and Monica put the babies on the phone.
Or we say doing a "chandler" when ppl do a weird smile for a photo.
Or add "could you be" onto the start of sentences Lille could you
be anymore annoying
It's got no phalange is a good one 😂

Ellenanora7 · 08/06/2023 00:26

Chandler .....I'm not good with the advice, can I interest you in a sarcastic comment. 😁

Usually to ds1 when he's asking me something.

Oh My God........then laugh like crazy

Loads more but think they've all been posted 😁

NoisyBrain · 08/06/2023 21:42

Ooh just remembered another one. If there's ever someone called Stephanie on a TV programme/news article, she is usually acknowledged by singing "Stephanieee knows all the chords"

It works almost as well with names that rhyme with Stephanie, like Bettany (Hughes) 😂

BigBadBoom · 08/06/2023 22:16

Oh no, my wallet's too small for my fifties, and my diamond shoes are too tight.

Was that place...the SUN?

Get quite a lot of use in our house 😁
