I've tried watching it twice and got to episode 3, I get that we're not supposed to like any of the family, but I'm struggling to get into it at all.

The brother wanking in the office, and the dad being pervy with the daughter when she visits him 😳

I keep seeing it on lists of best ever TV shows, and I've watched a lot of shows that have more sex/violence than this one so I'm not a prude - but does it get better after the first few episodes?

I think the first few episodes are slow but it does get better!

I absolutely love it! The clothes, the scenery, the Tuscan wedding scenes were spectacular! And this weeks was amazing too!

I agree about the lack of empathy for characters, I have brief moments when I feel sorry for Kendall & then Boom! I hate him again! But I think that is sort of why it's so different, there aren't goodies & badies! Everyone has good & bad & it shifts through each episode!

I actually think I will end up liking Roman the most & at first I despised him!

Hi , I would say that I really struggled with it initially . As the characters were all really unlikeable and I wasn't rooting for anyone . I tried a second time to watch the first series and persevered and wouldn't say I enjoyed it until the last episodes . If I had found out mid way through that the series was being pulled I wouldn't have been gutted .

I then started the second series and third series not being completely drawn in at first - but it does hook you in .

I won't give any spoilers away to those that haven't watched it but you do see how flawed and damaged a lot of the characters are . I don't think I like them but can sort of understand better now , how they are how they are .
I am now watching it live as it comes out and I would say it is probably the best thing on tv at the moment . Last week's episode was brillant and the writing was absolutely superb .
Can't wait to see the final episode and I am even contemplating watching it all over again with DH who hasn't seen any of it Grin.

For context, I never did get into The Wire but absolutely loved the West Wing which I watched obsessively years after it had finished .

I took a while to get drawn in too but you do get hooked. Keep going.

My tip is to switch on subtitles. I found that Roman and Shiv in particular speak so fast and in snappy remarks or rude metaphors and the subtitles really helped me understand the nuances of the plot, the politics etc etc. I did the same with the Wire due to the Philly vernacular.

I love love love this show but I don't recommend this to my mum or 2 close friends because I just know that they won't get it. I just know that they would find it boring because they watch things and have conversations throughout, so would miss the punchy lines and the complicated political shenanigans.

Me, on the other hand have never enjoyed medical dramas from Holby to Grey's anatomy to ER and that's ok.
