Love Island - will summer season have more 'normal' folk?

Following the finish of the winter season, none of the islanders have reached 1 million followers, some follow counts are quite low compared to previous islanders! This article indicates that some 'high-calibre' applicants don't want to take part due to the social media ban - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11876981/Love-Islands-ban-growing-contestant-Instagram-followings-spark-beginning-end.html.

I wonder if this summer we might actually see some more down to earth people in there for love and a good time rather than brand deals and insta followers?!

But the thing is, the participants themselves say they can’t go back to their normal jobs after the LI exposure - so they can only earn money through SM - advertising, influencing, making themselves popular enough to be offered another TV show. That doesn’t suggest it as a route for ordinary people with no significant SM following.

Awful programme.

When is it back?!!

@MarciaSaysANumber I always wonder why they say that, perhaps it's because us 'normal' folk normally put them on a pedestal or maybe they think they are too famous to return to their previous jobs...

It seems understandable to me. The producers need people who’ll throw themselves into the things they believe make the show exciting. Mostly snogging, shagging (or pretending to shag) under a duvet, and engaging in lots of lewd activity while wearing very few clothes. Hard to go straight back to teaching impressionable kids after all that …
