This is so sad. He seemed such a kind, funny and brilliant man. With little DC. The new series was due to start tonight.

I just saw this on Twitter. Terribly sad. RIP Jock 🙏

DanceBeneathADiamondSky · 01/05/2023 09:47

That's very sad!

SavBlancTonight · 01/05/2023 09:58

I saw a trailer for masterchef Australia just the other day and was thinking if there's a way to watch it without waiting and then saw this news. So sad.

SwankyPants · 01/05/2023 11:57

He was only 46. Such a shock :(

jay55 · 01/05/2023 12:08

Just terrible news. The new Aussie season is understandably being postponed this week.
I'm pretty shocked.

This is the first I've heard of it, but I really liked him on there. That's really tragic.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 01/05/2023 12:10

Never heard of him but always sad when some dies young.

hattie43 · 01/05/2023 12:24

Horrendous

TheRowdy3 · 01/05/2023 13:23

I saw Mel posted a promotion for the show about 19 hours ago.

So shocking.

GrandTheftWalrus · 01/05/2023 14:52

Just posted it on the main masterchef thread. I really liked him on Australia. Him, Andy and Mel really went well together. Very sad.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 01/05/2023 16:07

Such sad news.

SorePaw · 01/05/2023 16:10

Very very sad news.

he was a great guy. I wish someone could have told him 'it's only money' we can work that out! 4 kids & a wife, absolutely tragic.

What? Was it suicide?

OMGitsnotgood · 01/05/2023 16:56

so sad, especially after how he had turned his life around and absolutely loved him on Masterchef.

What do you mean?

MenoRageisReal · 01/05/2023 17:19

He was such a gent. The way he reassured Julie Goodwin on Back to Win made me absolutely well up. He always cheered on the contestants and was a positive force. Very funny and warm. I loved his cooking videos on social media with his kids as well.

I'm very upset today. It's tragic. (And I know he has spoken about his MH issues but I wish people wouldn't leap to the conclusion it's suicide until we have official notification of the cause of death. Speculation is horrible).

Theunamedcat · 01/05/2023 17:20

Let's not speculate on the cause its really none of our business

FiveShelties · 01/05/2023 17:25

So very sad, he was a really good judge on Masterchef - always fair and always kind.

dwightschrutebeets · 01/05/2023 17:32

Oh my god!!!! I haven't seen the news but what an awful shame!

Dizzywizz · 01/05/2023 21:12

Just seen in the news, apparently he had bowel cancer

GrandTheftWalrus · 02/05/2023 01:04

Not to speculate but they found him after a welfare check according to BBC news.

That to me seems like he's told someone something and he's taken his own life.

More has to be done over male mental health. I've lost 2 colleagues in the last year to this.

Could you link to this please? I haven't seen this. Thanks

TheRookie · 02/05/2023 13:44

It is well documented that he had a long history of drunk and alcohol addiction and money problems. Maybe with his secret battle with cancer, he just couldn't face it any more. A shock for all. His poor family!
