Any reality shows.
Any talent shows
Saturday night 'entertainment' shows.
All of the soaps.

MarkWithaC · 28/04/2023 17:05

Loads mentioned here like I'm a Celebrity, Towie, Made in Chelsea, The Voice, Love Island, Gogglebox, chat shows, not even Graham Norton. Also Last Tango in Halifax, although I love Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack.

Tried Peaky Blinders but couldn't get past the dreadful fake West Midlands accents.
Tried GoT but couldn't get past the dragons.
That 'comedy' by Stephen Merchant about people doing community service. The media and RL friends raved about it but I found it toe-curling.
Parks and Recreation. Don't even really know what it is although I gather people love it.
Didn't get Ted Lasso (why is it funny? Why should we care about any of them? Why is Ellie Taylor's acting so terrible?) and gave up after one ep.

But I love Strictly, Bake Off, Throw Down and Sewing Bee. And I adore a gloomy subtitled foreign drama.

Handmaids Tale

evtheria · 05/05/2023 18:25

Peaky Blinders, Love Island, White Lotus, Normal People, The Bodyguard, The Crown
They're just not the kind of thing I normally watch anyway, so I'm not bothered about missing out. I do find if something has been discussed constantly everywhere it puts me off seeing something. This happened with Fleabag, and then I watched it much, much later and couldn't believe I'd 'missed out'!

I wasn't really allowed to watch Friends as a young tween/teen, and hated not knowing what friends were discussing the morning after an episode... but when old enough to have free reign of the telly I realized I didn't like it or find it funny. Still blame my parents, though.

evtheria · 05/05/2023 18:26

Oh, and reality tv in general. But I think that's quite common - most people are quite for or against them, I find.

Daffodilwoman · 05/05/2023 18:30

Fleabag, yes, I came here to say basically something similar about it

FleaBag here too
And the HandMaids Tale

Itdoesnthavetobejusrol · 05/05/2023 19:10

No soaps since the baby swop in 2010
No Britain's got Talent type things - find the presenters so snotty, smug and vain
No - who's in the disguise shows as I never watch long enough to find out
No long long long series like 24, GOT, I just don't have the staying power or time to catch up
No hospital dramas - too many reminders of past tragedies

Kazzyhoward · 05/05/2023 19:49

No soaps
No reality TV
No talent shows
No TV "comedians"
No house renovation/buying&selling programs
No British crime series which obsess about the main/lead detective's private life, past trauma's etc.

In fact, very little British TV at all. I mostly watch documentaries and American box sets on Sky.

toffee1000 · 10/05/2023 04:58

Love Island just doesn’t appeal to me. It’s not really even about finding a partner either, more about building a social media following. And they all behave awfully too from what I’ve read.
I never understood the love of Game of Thrones either. I’m not one to want to watch nasty violence, I like being able to sleep at night without being plagued by nightmares.

I used to watch Strictly but haven’t in years. I don’t watch much TV these days in general though.

CelerEtAudax · 11/05/2023 23:20
