Nearly 30 years old. Anyway, the reason I'm posting is that the woman singing "Can't smile without you" at Angus and Laura's wedding was Nicola Walker!

I need to rewatch it! I thought that she said that after the night they spent together at the Boatman or whatever it was called, after the first wedding? She surely wasn't engaged then?

I thought she said she had to get back to her fiance....and then she introduced him to Charles at the 2nd wedding?

Squirrelsnut · 12/03/2023 00:15

I thought it was because she was returning to the USA.

Theeaglesoared · 12/03/2023 00:15

My favourite film Of All Time.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 12/03/2023 00:18

I just assumed Hamish was already on the scene when they first met.

Wineat5isfine · 12/03/2023 00:39

So very sad that Charlotte Coleman died at such a young age 💔

It is a classic film though. Watching it right now

JaneJeffer · 12/03/2023 00:44

Kristin Scott Thomas is so beautiful

VashtaNerada · 12/03/2023 00:46

She definitely sleeps with Charles before Hamish anyway! (The scene where she lists who she’s slept with).

WeAreTheHeroes · 12/03/2023 00:47

Now Saturday Night Fever is on and that's 45 years old!!

Watching this as well. Al Pacino! Grin

Currently watching 4 Weddings - love this film and the fashions. An all time favourite.

Recording Saturday Night Fever to watch later. A real trip down memory Lane

WeAreTheHeroes · 12/03/2023 01:32

SNF is full of misogyny and sexism, a hard watch tbh.

Yup. Bleak

The first church is Betchworth in Surrey. Lots of the regular congregation are in the wedding congregation. The flower guy spent all day on the flowers - he was very...fussy with a massive lorry of flowers. There was an overnight guard watchman and lovely ladies of the village kept him going with bacon sarnies.
We went to the premier and we had to dress up in wedding gear so I squeezed back into my wedding dress, our vicar went as himself in full regalia and his wife as my bridesmaid. Was huge fun but sitting through a film premier and walking through London in a wedding dress at night is something I will not forget.

Kristin Scott Thomas looks ravishing in the scene where she tells Charles she's in love with him.

I just saw her in a recent French film called Les Cyclades where she plays a Mykonos-living hippy with long white hair and kaftans and looks wonderful.

Do you mean John Travolta?

Schmutter · 12/03/2023 11:45

I watched 4 Weddings last night. Hadn’t seen it for years.

I feel I loathe and detest Richard Curtis films, but I actually rather enjoyed it.

Kristin Scott Thomas was SO beautiful. And Hugh Grant, before he learned to act, but charming nonetheless. Scarlett’s devine orange dress at the first wedding - that wouldn’t look dated now.

JaneJeffer · 12/03/2023 11:47

It's a line from the film @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/03/2023 12:01

Thanks for that, had totally forgotten! I saw SNF when it first came out. It was an 18 and we were under age. I led a quiet sheltered life and was expecting a film about disco dancing so the other bits came as a bit of a shock. Grin

JaneJeffer · 12/03/2023 12:08

Yeah it's rough but the dancing is so good.

Who in their right minds would choose Andie McDowell over the stunning Kristin Scott Thomas?

Schmutter · 12/03/2023 12:15

Andy’s McDowell is so wooden in this film.

grayhairdontcare · 12/03/2023 12:22

I always feel that American tourists must be so disappointed visiting London after watching Richard Curtis films
