cornsilk · 16/02/2008 15:50

Saw this last night. I actually preferred the 'rich' couple on this - the Jesus Christians were awful - not doing religion any favours by coming across as work shy scroungers!

southeastastra · 16/02/2008 16:16

i quite liked the jesus christian bloke, he was very calm and laid back. the children in the other house were awful, really spoilt.

cornsilk · 16/02/2008 19:05

Did you think so? I agree that the girl was, but I thought the older boys were quite sensible really. They went along with the rule changes anyway, the Jesus Christian bloke didn't - he didn't go to work on the second day.

Karen999 · 16/02/2008 19:28

I would like to know how they managed to buy a new motorhome and the lap top computer??

southeastastra · 16/02/2008 20:06

they were probably paid to be on the show. maybe they got the money from that, can't think of any other incentive a family would do it.

cornsilk · 16/02/2008 21:40

I wondered about the motorhome and the laptop also. So they aren't averse to receiving money - just don't want to have to go to work for it.

TrinityRhino · 16/02/2008 21:42

I thought I was gonna be hating the rich ones but the jesus christians drove me insane

amytheearwaxbanisher · 16/02/2008 21:51

i thought the rich woman was really good about staying in the camper considering what she is used to dont think id have been able and im certainly not rich got the impression the christians were just bone idle especially the dad

cornsilk · 16/02/2008 21:59

I agree. I thought the rich woman went out of her way to go along with them - finding him a job in recycling, inviting his mates over to the party. The Christian woman was awful and cruel to the little girl - forcing her to eat black bananas as a punishment? Horrible.

Karen999 · 16/02/2008 22:03

Yep, I liked the rich family. They all seemed so nice. I lol when the woman was having to clean and tidy the house and she said that she thought that rich people would pay somebody to do it!!!!

I felt sorry for the little boy. He was so lovely. And he loved his birthday presents.

The 'rich' woman was a true sport I thought and came across very well.

The other family were a pain in the arse....

cornsilk · 16/02/2008 22:06

And why did she have to empty the flipping toilet? He should have done it!

Karen999 · 16/02/2008 22:15

I got the feeling that he did not do much....

cornsilk · 16/02/2008 22:24

I wondered was that part of their beliefs - in an 'honouring your husband' kind of way. I know a couple who are christians - they aren't extreme like the ones on wifeswap, but what he says goes. I wondered if it was the christian way.

alfiesbabe · 16/02/2008 23:50

Think it is part of the Jesus Christian way. Oooh these extremists are scary!

amytheearwaxbanisher · 16/02/2008 23:56

weirdos each to their own and all that i just feel sorry for the poor boy did you see him leg it away from the camper when he was dropped near the school?

Flibbertyjibbet · 17/02/2008 00:09

How can they afford a new motorhome with no money or does 'taking donations' bring in that much?

alfiesbabe · 17/02/2008 11:18

I think we all know the answer to that Flibberty

WanderingTrolley · 17/02/2008 11:26

I liked the rich family more than the Jesus Christians, who seemed utterly devoid of joy.

I loved when Darcy gave a breezy "OK" and did the exact opposite of what she was told. I though Darcy was completely reasonable there.

Cruel JC woman, making Darcy eat the bananas. That wasn't going give a bountiful harvest to the Sudan, was it?

It was shocking the amount of decent food thrown out by the supermarkets though - why don't they hand it over to homeless shelters?

I think the Jesus Christians were just tight fisted, tbh. How exactly are they contributing to society?
