I'm new to Love Island & decided to give it a go & watch with my daughter. I've been dipping in & out of series 9 and it's not held much interest so decided to watch from the start & give series 1 a go. OMG, I couldn't wait to get through the whole series, fantastic telly watching, hilarious with all the islanders, Jon & Hannah, Jessie & Max etc but series 9 is nothing like it. What happed? Did it get better from series 1? When was the decline?

After series 4 probably.. 2 and 3 were my favourites. May watch series 1 only saw some.
Not saying I liked the people but good tv more like reality tv less fake. Rather than all fake maybe.

Series 9 seems really stilted & fake now I've seen series 1. It should go back to the original formula. I'll give series 2 & 3 a go, thanks for the recommendation.

Series 1 & 2 is alcohol infused and a villa that doesn’t allow the separation. 3 set the insights for game playing and the importance of attracting followers, not that they were playing but the Kem & Chris friendship and success became a goal. Series 4 good but seemed to have more islanders and felt the producers led the direction. Series 5 had good islanders and had to deal with new formats over the suicides and from season 6 the influencers really started to take over. Series 9 was strange they allowed the likes of Aaron to sail along whilst removing Zara and Tanyel. Season 9 does feel the voting might as well of not existed.

Exactly!!! They kept removing all the interesting characters and leaving the pointless ones and the public were never allowed to properly vote out those they don't like

First time ever I’ve given up. I’ve totally lost interest - fed up of the stupid 3 musketeers show and generally don’t particularly like any of the contestants. Plus it’s predictable and the voting is just a waste of time - v v limited scope for public voting. Needs a makeover or a break I think.

Totally agree. Most boring /manufactured season. Gave up a few weeks ago and now following only through this thread and through a few clips.
Feels far too stilted and manufactured. Cringey cringey hideaway scenes and challenges. Relying on old formula.
Boring “chats” that seem scripted. Then endless dissection of those boring scripted chats.
No sense of fun or enjoyment. No spontaneity.
Only couple that seem “real” are Kai and Sanam.
Shame that programme has become seen as route for influencers to become famous.
Needs a radical rethink in order to keep viewers engaged.

Get into season 2 it was fantastic. Season 3 also decent. 4 not bad. 5 onwards the real decline starts but was bearable until last year so season 8? I thought that was a bit pants and didn’t want to even watch this one but somehow got sucked in.

Season 10 I’m definitely intending to skip. Perhaps I’ll read a bit on here a couple weeks in to see how it’s going and if it’s apparently great maybe I’ll start watching midway.

I can't believe I wasted a week or more being 20+ episodes behind, catching up and not caring about 1 person by the end!

I stopped watching a few days ago. This season was absolute shite.

I will watch the family and friends visit tomorrow , but I am pretty sure that it will be boring.
Producers have been extremely lazy and people have started losing interest. They don’t seem to understand that they have to change things up a little to keep people interested. It is the same old format every season
I think that having a Winter LI was a terrible idea. In a few months there will be another LI and I don’t think I have the energy to watch it tbh.

Sunk costs fallacy but it's 4 hours left (including Aftersun and the reunion show) so I may as well carry on until the end now.

I won't be watching this summer.

The couples had to vote for the most incompatible couple left then they were put to the public vote.

So I'm guessing tonight we'll lose either Will and Jessie, Ron and Lana or kai and Sanam.

Do you think we'll get the dumping and then the parents, or will the parents have been in knowing someone is getting dumped when they've gone. Just trying to work it out from a continuity point.

I haven’t watched the last few nights as can’t stand the dates. Had the baby challenge on but wasn’t paying attention. I’ll tune in tonight to see how meet the parents goes and will probs see who wins tomorrow.

But yes it’s been an utterly disappointing series. Will probs watch the summer one but may well abandon if it shapes up to be like this. I wonder if the producers/ITV will finally listen to viewers that it needs a major overhaul as I think this season has faced huge amounts of criticism. There has been no one to root for. They need to have a rethink of the kind of islanders they put in there and then abandon the current format of the show in pretty much its entirety. I wonder if the summer one could potentially be the last in its current guise? 🤷‍♀️
