Is anyone on here old enough to remember News Flashes in the days before social media ? You would be watching tv and all of a sudden up would pop News Flash . I can remember feeling a huge sense of dread as they always contained awful news.

You are all so young!! I remember the Nesflash saying President Kennedy had been shot. Followed shortly by the one where the newscaster starkly said "Preseident Kennedy is dead". I was only 5, didn't actually know who Kennedy was but my Mum immediately burst into tears. I think it was her shock that has remained with me, one of my clearest early childhood memories.

I remember the news flash when President Kennedy was shot. I was scared and asked my mum if we would have a war.

That was the first news flash I saw. My mother was furious we hadn't told her - but as we didn't know what a News Flash was... I remember her being cross more than the content!

Yes I remember them happening definitely although the only one I remember clearly was when the Queen Mother died. I was on my break at work and it came on the tv in the staff room.

I know they interrupted tv to go to BBC news when Princess Diana was involved in the car crash but I think they then stayed with ongoing coverage as things developed and her death was confirmed. Of course when the Queen died last year it had been covered by the BBC all day, I imagine the other programmes probably interrupted programmes when her death was announced.
