What does that mean? Is it an offensive reference to the police? If so - how revolting are you? And no, I'm as far removed from UK police as you could get!

mauvish · 15/02/2023 23:16

I had a friend at uni who drowned in a tidal river. She was into wild swimming. Her entry point into the water was known.

It took 2 weeks to find her body.

EarringsandLipstick · 15/02/2023 23:15

Have you been to that stretch of river? Do you even know where Garstang is? Lancashire?

Nope not a clue (well I do know where Lancashire is!)

It's irrelevant. I have some understanding re drowning in apparently benign waters, and a body still not being found for many weeks.

You knowing the area is just irrelevant.

Ok, your general "lived experience" of a different stretch of water trumps everything. I yield to your superior (albeit general) knowledge.

What a disgusting comment!

Anyone else reported this absolutely ridiculous thread? Full of women hitching between themselves

Embarrassing

Yes, sadly I have had experience of several situations that were similar, and with longer time periods.

Water is so treacherous.

DorritLittle · 15/02/2023 23:23

We are now supposed to believe that this suicidally depressed, menopausal alcoholic woke up on time and got 2 young children up, fed, dressed, dropped off at school on time, walked the dog, attended a work meeting, killed herself and disposed of her own body all by 10am.

She also returned like on time like clockwork, so that they were panicky within 30minutes.

This bit confuses me about the hypothesis too. The efficiency.

EarringsandLipstick · 15/02/2023 23:25

Delighted, finally.

It's not my 'lived experience' either. It's a factual description of how hard it can be to locate a body, regardless of how easy to access and navigate the water might seem to be.

A concept you can't seem to grasp at all.

EarringsandLipstick · 15/02/2023 23:25

No thanks 🙄

Yeah, you're right. And I know I'm one of them.

I need to stop - I am posting in frustration at the awful voyeuristic speculation about a woman's life and possible death.

But I realise I am being hypocritical too, as I'm keeping it going.

Fair point from you.

FancyFanny · 15/02/2023 23:27

Of course the Wyre drains into Morecambe Bay- Morcambe Bay refers to the whole bay from Fleetwood round to Rampside and it's possible the tides could was a body up on to any of the beaches round the bay.

Youainttheonlyone · 15/02/2023 23:27

GoChasingWaterfalls · 15/02/2023 20:16

How do you know she isn't downstream? What evidence do you have to the contrary?

When Nic Degraff fell into the River Derwent in Cumbria last winter, it took several weeks for his body to be recovered. He was found by a trawler vessel in the harbour a few miles from where he fell in. There were searches for him that turned up nothing for the first few weeks as well.

With utmost respect to the loved ones, and no upset meant,

this river is tidal at this point and it could well be the case that if she’s entered the river under whatever circumstances then she could as you pointed out be some distance downriver. There was a young lad on the Wirral I think that entered the waters on the estuary and he wasn’t sadly found for a fair while

Do you remember that poor lass from Blackburn that walked into the sea at Blackpool not so long ago? She wasn't washed up for months

That's the sea, not a slow moving river way inland. This is like Earrings and her tales of a completely different area

Sugarfree23 · 15/02/2023 23:35

EarringsandLipstick · 15/02/2023 22:29

@Sugarfree23

Your speculation is awful. MNHQ have specifically asked for this not to happen - I've reported your post.

Bash in report if you like.
But you know as well as I do the police have to rule out the nearest and dearest to any sudden death or disappearance.

If there is criminality its more likely to be the partner than a stranger.

It's already been pointed out the partner claimed at the first press conference all was calm that morning, he put kids and dog in the car.
Does the video from the doorbell not show her doing it?

It all leads out to the Irish sea. Either way she could be caught on a riverbank on the river and the local police must have a good idea and that's why they are checking Knottend and the Shard.

Yes, I did and was told MNET would prefer posters to comment to that effect ourselves- ie how awful it is. I have but to no effect.

MagicCat83 · 15/02/2023 23:43

Women bitching? Do women have to all be oh so lovely and agreeable at all times?

I suppose they have to get on so they can all pull together and make cucumber sandwiches for the men at the village cricket match at the weekend?

Lochjeda · 15/02/2023 19:33

My sister in law disclosed to me in December shed been suicidal and had serious mental health issues because of the menopause. The doctors just kept increasing her dose of antidepressants instead of giving her hrt and it was making her feel more numb, more brain fog and more suicidal as she literally didn't care anymore about anything. Realising that menopause can and ddoes make some women unstable is absolutely not misogynistic!

Peak age for female suicide is 45-49 (ONS data) - so that suggests a link.

I hope this case will shine a brighter light on these issues.

It's certainly something that needs to be addressed more given the lack of sleep can be hellish and all the other symptoms then trying to get hold of meds for it and then when you do they might not suit and can make symptoms worst especially anxiety and depression.
