Top Dog on All 4 from the makers of the Bridge

Unlikely pairing of a high flying partner in a legal firm and a recently released prisoner reflecting on a life of violence as part of a mafia family.

Not over the top violence, and most is male on male rather than women being abused. But certainly not Sunday 8pm slot.

Plot is very complicated and is about deception, families, loyalties, and being duped.

Neither main character are particularly sympathetic but there is none of that they have some trait that makes them like that. It is their life experiences that has shaped them.

I saw your post and am just downloading it. My husband and I loved The Bridge and he lace rewatched it all a number of times! Be interesting to see how this compares 😀

I've seen two episodes so far, it's OK and I will watch the rest of the series but since discovering STV player, I've been watching crime drama on there, there's loads of it.

What is STV? Is it free?!!

Yes, I'm with virgin and it's on the Apps and Games on the main menu list. I don't know how you would get it on anything else but as it's free it should be accessible I would think.

Yes, it is Scottish TV. I've found a couple of series on there that I couldn't get on catch up TV without having to upgrade.

There's a fair bit of foreign drama which is good as I like that. I watched a series called Dry Water and that was quite good, I think it was Spanish.

There is also another version of The Bridge but I haven't bothered with that as I watched all the original series.

Its good, if you liked it then watch Before We Die (Swedish version) on All4, some of the cast are in this too. Alexej (Teddy in Top Dog) plays a baddie.

Is it anywhere near as good as the Bridge? That's one of my favourite to shows of all time.

I dont think it is as good as the Bridge because at the time that was an original. So now everything Nordic since then cant quite compete.

Also, it isn't a police procedural. This is about high level financial crime interlinking with street crime.

But I found it interesting, because of the plot lines.

And dont expect any heroes or heroines!

I finished Top Dog last night and I have to say I quite enjoyed it despite not being too sure after seeing the first few episodes.
