Do I need to rewatch Happy Valley before the latest series?

Trying to avoid any spoilers so apologies if this has been asked on another thread.

Watched the original series when it first came out, do I need to watch them again or can I just jump straight into the last series? I vaguely remember what happened.

No need to rewatch.

The important storyline is Catherine's family rather than the side crimes. There is a new side crime for this series, as well as some tidying of historic stuff where the details aren't that important.

We rewatched the first two series again immediately after watching episode 1 of series 3 and I'm glad I did. So many characters and situations lead to series 3 it really helps to refresh. Unless you have an absolutely phenomenal 6 year memory, of course?

Just find a recap of both series on the internet...

Ah, disclaimer, I only watched s1 and 2 last year! Not six years ago!!

Just reporting back to say have started rewatching s1. So glad I did, it really is riveting and so well written.

It’s totally worth watching again.

I rewatched them too, was glad I did as I'd forgotten a lot of it. It was a long time ago!

I re-watched Series 1 last year and all of seres 2 which I'd abandoned last time .
It is so good and worth a rewatch .

I didn’t rewatch and you don’t need to. Although I haven’t watched the last episode because too much tension building up. Sarah Lancashire I’d a powerful actor. When I do watch it again, all 3 series, they will be almost like new.

I almost cheered at her sentence where she mentions Robocop.

I thought I'd remembered the first two series well, but half way through the first episode of the new series I decided to drop out and rewatch the older ones again.
So glad I did this, the characters are all fresh in mind again, and I'd forgotten just how brilliant the programme is!
Have finished my catch up now and am starting the third series again tomorrow. Have managed to avoid all spoilers so far!

James Norton was on BBC Breakfast a couple of weeks ago , and when TLR shaves his manky beard and ratty hair he looks HOT

I have never 'got' the James Norton love before but he's got something ! (And a gorgeous voice )

I did and glad I did as I had forgotten quite a bit of the background stories

and it’s so good I shall rewatch again in a few years time
