Watching the evening news and Mary Nightingale seems visibly upset and her voice seems as if she can't catch her breath. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed?

It's almost as if she is is trying not to cough...

What was the story?

emerald1981 · 02/02/2023 19:01

@Pocketfullofdogtreats it's throughout the whole show

Noticed the same, she looked really upset.

Big red eyes too, awful ☹️

Sunshineandrainbow · 02/02/2023 19:11

I thought it sounded like hiccups while. Camera was not on her

chunkiest · 02/02/2023 19:11

Looks like a cold to me

Radiohorror · 02/02/2023 19:12

I thought she had a cough. I think this happened a few weeks ago. I remember because I had The Cough too & I empathised.

emerald1981 · 02/02/2023 19:20

Glad it's not just me. Yes her eyes looked really red at the start of the show so hoping it is just the effort of repressing a cough/ hiccups and not bad news or something before going on air.

@Radiohorror I was thinking the same. I remember the effort of trying to keep from coughing when I was on a train as was worried about getting the stink eye Confused

I think she's struggled with her throat/ cough for a long time now, I remember commenting on here about it during the pandemic

Could be nerves but years ago had investigations into voice loss.

It’s been since the start of the show. Definitely something wrong her words aren’t always coming out correctly either. Hope she is ok

I have laryngeal dystonia and this is exactly how it started. People would think I was upset or nervous, but it is a neurological disorder which affects the messages going from the brain to the vocal cords. I hope for her sake that isn’t it, but it certainly sounds like it is. Poor Mary, it’s miserable 😢
