Why has Silent Witness got so bad?

I used to love it. Really love it. It's become totally ridiculous and I've lost all interest in what is happening. Is this just me, or have the plot lines masssively deteriorated? Also I miss Clarissa.

I've started thinking maybe the niece is actually the daughter otherwise what actually is the point of her?

We call it Silent Twitness. It’s a joke. Complicated, confusing storylines and the main characters are now detectives.

Unbelievable storylines a go go, shit plots and characters no one cares what happens to.

Seen better acting from the corpse's on the slab than the recent efforts from the rest of the cast. I used to love it, now it's painfully bad (and boring).

Yes I also found this last season atrocious. I like Jack but yes about Harry and Leo ...they have too many new characters...so many long pauses with Velvey too when he has a monologue or phone conversation it was all a bit weird have the people changed to write the plots ????? Cara is great for inclusiveness I think but her mum and Jack and I'm pretty sure Nikki walks like a penguin sometimes...or the wooden thing people are talking about literally wood

I agree, used to love it but it’s awful now. I understand why they have the deaf girl, but there are whole scenes of silence and they don’t add to the plot. Also miss Clarissa and Thomas.

This it's ridiculous how they investigate and get involved with MI5 and the mafia etc. Really?

I agree it's just awful this season! So unrealistic- as if pathologists get involved with the actual detective work- chasing the baddies!

It's nice to see a deaf character - she is a good actress- really natural- but I really do wonder what the point of her character is. It's like they are just trying too hard to be inclusive- FGS - give her a decent story line and for goodness sake get some proper BSL training for the main characters- their signing is cringeworthy!

The bit I aLways used to love was the pathology side but there's hardly any of that now. Time for the, to knock it on the head...

Why has Cara gone from being able to speak despite her deafness to being all most entirely mute.

why do all the ‘third’ actors/actresses have to have some sort of disability and /or be some sort of minority (the current one I am
still unsure if he is both, bad acting or slightly
slow? His lines certainly don’t seem ‘considered’) and then leave within one season to make way for someone else diverse. I don’t have any objections but a position in a place like would surely be attracting the crème de la crème, not my bank tellers aunties cousins son/daughter who has been slightly
shunned by society….

It's known as Violent Shitness here. There were some really good storylines in days gone by.

I do like spotting reoccurring actors, even the actor that played Sam Ryan's son popped up as a different character.

It got weird a few seasons ago. The older seasons were so good and then the writers must have changed? There's also been so many things that don't march up with what was said before e.g. Nikki was an archaeologist when she joined the team and now they've set it up like she's a medical doctor who knows about midwifery and everything?

It lost the plot about 15 years ago. Since then its been largely nonsensical stories with Emilia Fox doing the police's and everyone else's job through the medium of fluttering eyelashes and immaculately tousled hair and makeup.

The one thing it has going for it is showing people with disabilities simply doing their jobs in the centre of the story, rather than as victims or tokens on the fringe.

Although at least Nikki has finally started wearing appropriate shoes and not stiletto heels when she's running after criminals.

The last few seasons have been atrocious. It was always the highlight of my January. I'd record it for Saturday night and have treats and wine and a solid two hours of Silent Witness(yes I realise how boring my life is) . The last season or two i forgave it a bit as covid might have got in the way but god above this season has no excuse. Not sure what the point of the new guy is. He is an awful character

So is Jack cara’s dad or did I miss the subtlety on this week’s durge?! She’s a good character but someone doing a criminology degree is never going to be a forensic scientist so I don’t know quite why she’s being taken in as part of the team unless she’s jack’s guilt child. The signing from everyone apart from her is appalling- they’d be more realistic to let her lip read. As if they’d have time to indulge a new student who isn’t a medic anyway.

I didn't mind last week's, although the acting was terrible (and don't get me started on Nicky delivering the baby!) - but the festival theme was a nice break from the relentless political / woke shite storylines that we've had for the last couple of series. That Velvey guy is a terrible actor, he makes me cringe and Nicky seems to be getting more and more wooden..
It's a shame as it used to be a really good watch.

I think it's really good except for the plots, acting and dialogue.

Awful now. Used to be great. Now trying to be so politically correct .The token deaf actor the token jew . So diminishing the plot. Spoils the whole drama.

To think a Redgrave is reduced to reciting the lines in this script.

I can't even be bothered to go into how many ways that was awful this week.

I gave up when Nicky was buried underground by a Mexican cartel, and even then I think I'd weathered several Shark Jumping episodes before finally bailing out.

I used to watch it years ago about about 5 years back they seemed to forget how to turn the lights on. I got fed up watching them all in semi darkness.
