Do they really get called at 4am?
And have 20 minutes to get ready?

Cos they seem very well groomed for 20 mins

Tasks are planned out with several different (but limited) options that candidates have to choose from. They don't do anything from scratch.

If the other team chooses an idea first the opposing team has to choose another one.

Remember that awful toothbrush challenge where nobody could understand why the boys chose sludge green and shit brown? That was because the other more appealing palette had already been chosen by the girls.

It's the same for logo designs, names everything. The candidates themselves have very little (if any) input.

Can't find part 3

i agree, suspicious.

I have also wondered whether they may actually not be Britain’s greatest new business talent.

Absolutely! Most of them, especially these days, are utter idiots!

HarrietSchulenberg · 22/01/2023 12:48

The editing makes them all look like unlikeable twats. I know one of them in RL and he's a really nice, genuinely intelligent and funny person. I've no idea why he decided to go on the show, he certainly doesn't need AS to succeed.

Leftoverssandwich · 22/01/2023 12:54

Yep, I knew an early competitor slightly. She became a bit of a hate figure but she was perfectly nice in real life.

PuppyMonkey · 22/01/2023 13:31

I’ve found this series pretty dull so far, just the same old thing, similar tasks, everything looking staged and scripted, every time after all these years. Fell asleep on Thursday.

Having also just watched new reality show Traitors (both UK and US) it utterly wipes the floor with the Apprentice in terms of excitement and intrigue and comedy. I was surprised to see Lord Sugar in the promo asking for people to join the next series of The Apprentice, as I’d be dubious about the show lasting much longer.

Fizbosshoes · 22/01/2023 22:12

I'm amazed anyone even wants to do the apprentice. Most of them claim to be super successful without Lord Sugar, anyway, and then you're on TV and styled/and or edited to look like a cringeworthy idiot!

sashagabadon · 22/01/2023 22:15

My son saw them filming some of the “walking with suitcase” stuff they do whilst he was skateboarding by the Lloyds building in london last summer and he said they had to do the walk over and over and over again

ohyouknowwhatshername · 23/01/2023 07:34

I preferred it when the prize was to become LS's apprentice, rather than his business partner. You get to the interview episode and find out that they have a rubbish idea for a business, so it's all been a waste of time.

StarJumpAlertTakeCover · 23/01/2023 09:09

And why does Karen look as though someone has let rip next to her?
Can’t bear her either.
Not sure what Tim adds to the judging.

Ha yes, this 😂

We call it the "fart in handbag" look in our house! She absolutely does though 😂

AngelDelightUK · 23/01/2023 11:53

I get so annoyed watching it, but I just love it. I can’t stop myself.

However, it is really like none of the contestants have ever watched a previous episode though

No they’re not the best business talent🤦‍♀️. They’re a bunch of commercial folks who want to be on tv and get rich quick through fame etc
i don’t watch now as most clearly lack decent experience in operations, comms , team working, project management, continuous improvement, etc….they’re almost always just sales/ marketing background. Fine for the entertainment but not for being best business talent in the country

And Alan Sugar’s bullying routine in the boardroom just sounds and looks tired and dated now.

No it’s not “tired”
it was never acceptable to treat your staff or interview candidates like that since before the series was first launched.
I assume it is a persona he puts on. It’s bullying, degrading and completely against most reputable companies HR policies- and has been since before I started working in business in mid 1980s

averill · 23/01/2023 12:11

Often after they divide into sub teams and go off to make their product they don't seem to be allowed contact, or to check with the other team.
A lot of the trouble seems to be that when they come together again there's arguments about, for example, a badly made product or a poor logo, name or design.

averill · 23/01/2023 12:16

The business plans of the final four last year were awful. The winner was one of those currently ubiquitous gelato/pastry takeaway places.

The styling isn't the best. I can't tell what age they are, but overfilled, badly filled duck lips, cheek filler, hair extensions and those awful brows appear to be the standard look. Not so in the real world of business.

Yes, all that is orchestrated because it makes good telly. In real life it would be a bonkers way to do business.

Also... why are they all so thick?

I cant watch it anymore

gogohmm · 23/01/2023 12:22

No, not exactly, one previous candidate revealed they hear the crew arriving 30 minutes or so before the "call" so are showered etc beforehand.

gogohmm · 23/01/2023 12:28

But can't wait for this week, I love how 15 or so supposedly adult humans fit to run a company know so little, can't read maps and have no concept of time management - I wonder what everyday item they have never heard of???

All that said why can't they just use a phone???

KnickerlessParsons · 23/01/2023 22:52

I'd like a prog on what has happened to all the candidates since they were on The Apprentice. Going back to the Badger days and earlier.

averill · 28/01/2023 19:19

They can't read maps because they're'before their time'. 😮

My children can read maps! I don't understand how stupid some of these candidates are. They didn't do geography at all at school? Maps are definitely on the syllabus.

MuchasSmoochas · 28/01/2023 22:12

I went to an event which was a task on The Apprentice. There were four candidates, they were charming and their merch was 😱 but we all bought stuff to support them. All very personable. Then months later when I saw the show it was edited very subjectively. Karen Brady was there, she looked fab but had a very cross look on her face which I was thrilled by as it was just like the show.
