Jac was the only person who ever worked with Vera who didn't feel the rough end of her tongue. It was one long 'Good work, Jac! You tracked down that one address I asked you for two days ago. Well done, lass. KENNY! Why haven't you finished trawling through the footage from the entire region's CCTV footage for the past three months I asked you for an hour ago? AIDAN! AIDAN! What do you mean you needed a toilet break? Can't you hold it in? I need to get back hurtling round the breathyakingly beautiful scenery in my decrepit Land Rover!'

I've just noticed dci barnaby puts his own booties on but then he's a bloke so maybe Vera expects her men to be-bootie her.

There will be a Christmas ep of this in the coming weeks but not sure when … can’t find it on the planner…

Looking forward to it. And the original DS, portrayed by David Leon, is back I think.

@OrangesLemonsLimes I think I read that it is Boxing day evening. There's a little article on the radio Times website. Can't wait!

Whoop! Whoop! Oh good. I love Vera.

IwantToRetire · 13/12/2023 17:30

Vera's Christmas special will air on 26th December 2023 on ITV at 8pm.
The episode, called The Rising Tide, is two hours long.

I did wonder about the return of Kenny Doughty but the article says returns as DS Aiden Healy, but it's bittersweet, as it's his final outing as the character

Even better! That's the one set on Lindisfarne, a place I've always wanted to visit, but haven't yet. The Vera episodes adapted from Ann Cleeves books are always better than the rest.

daffodilandtulip · 13/12/2023 18:13

Yesssss! Probably won't watch it live but it'll fill a spot in the holidays somewhere. Love Vera!

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 13/12/2023 18:23

Oooh i read the book earlier this year and it was good.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 26/12/2023 17:42

Looking forward to tonight!

For a group of people who supposedly lived in the same area as children and went to the same secondary school they had a surprisingly large spread of accents, some which varied from sentence to sentence.

The story was good though.

IwantToRetire · 27/12/2023 17:23

I thought it was okay. But definitely not up to some of the better episodes.

I thought because someone said it was based on one of the original books that it would be better.

The series now relies on the same jokes about each other, and Vera remember all the families in the area.

At least Kenny now isn't the bottom of the hierarchy and has the new boy to boss around.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 27/12/2023 17:52

I was pleased to see Kenny looking less rough and bloated. He looked dreadful in the last episode I saw.
So much missing out of the program though. The book was excellent.

RiverCartwright · 29/12/2023 00:19

Can’t tell you how pleased I am David Leon is returning. Aiden , though watchable, never really worked for me and dare I say it, the actor was a bit wooden.
Be interesting to see how he and Jac are written out though.

I enjoyed tonight’s but I do love Vera, it’s one of those shows you can switch your brain off a bit with
