New thread for new series

obviously all this has happened in the past year

they would have been better filming this as it happened and showing it

as we have seen all their trips on Facebook and instagram if on it

E 1 - Chloe’s pregnancy takes a worrying turn

This programme has surely come to the end of the road. It is vacuous, scripted predictable dross - even the narrator sounds bored.

Anyone else cringe as Noel closed the bedroom door in the hotel?

Made me feel a bit queasy 🤢

They are desperately trying to stay relevant but now there no new babies, they've nothing to say hence scripted drama.
I'll be really surprised to see another series. I mean what next? 3 episodes in and have we seen one of the monthly holidays yet?

I've been watching the radfords since their 15 KAC days on Channel 4 before I had my own kids-I preferred the old format.

I'm not interested in the food shops, holidays, swimming or campervans I want to know the nitty gritty stuff 😅

I'm really interested to hear how or if their parenting style has changed over the past 34 (?) Years - do they parent their youngest different in comparison to their eldest? Is there anything they'd do different? What's been their biggest regrets? What part has been hard? Easy?

Oh and how does the parents remember every one of the children's interests/ likes / dislikes? Ie : Tommy likes watching / collecting American soccer, the colour green, mint chocolate chip ice cream his best mate is Frank at school - how do you keep a track of 22 kids personal lives? And their hobbies? How do they tackle issues / raise awareness / Talk about current topics with their kids? I know we have had chats with our children (encouraged by the school) about online usage, body autonomy, dangers online etc. Do the kids all consent to being filmed / photographed? It must be quite stressful for all of them to be "on" all the time.

I know not all parents are heavily involved in their kids lives but surely it must take a lot of time to remember everything - whose where / who needs x for school / who needs extra support with school work? Does she have a diary? A notebook?

Secondly how do they manage being grandparents with young dc? My own mum was very helpful when my dc were tiny / newborns - I could phone her and she'd pop over to give me a break, she'd batch cook if I was having a bad week (pnd) or take a load of washing to help. How Is this possible if she/ they have their own still not independent little ones? What's their plans for post babies?

I only watch in hope they might answer some of my questions ...and this has turned into quite a essay😂

@Thecat19342 I honestly don't think that they do keep track with any of that stuff. They just seem to bumble along buying holidays, dogs and just stuff. It just seems really chaotic for all involved.

So they’re wanting to move to Florida? Yeah alright then.

I wish they’d do the show in some sort of order. This week Chloe is still pregnant, last week she’d had her baby.

when does real everyday life take place such as laundry, ironing, cooking, cleaning, changing all the bedding, bath/shower times, helping with homework the list goes on as you know but how the hell do they find time for all this normal everyday household stuff plus their social media channels YouTube or whatever it is. I have not seen their SM myself but surely those videos take a lot of planning and time out of their day. Also do the kids cooperate on there SM and go along with the filming as my kids make a fuss and moan if I want to take a simple photograph no way I could get them to cooperate with daily filming they'd be bored with it. Does YouTube etc really make them this much money as they do appear to live like millionaires. Amazes me how they have time for everything.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2023 14:54

Honestly I don't think you can have enough time for all kids

It takes time to do their reading and homework let alone play with them and give cuddles and love

They won't move to Florida

Why didn't Luke have a hair net on in the pie barn

So scripted argument and fall out

And the spillage

Have to say I am Enjoying the other more kids than cash at the moment

Hope they do more series of that

This series is dire now. Painting without covering up the carpet?

And so much for 22 kids, we only saw about 8 at the most. Most tedious episode so far. Yawn central.

Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun for the recommendation "More Kids Than Cash" - looks excellent! Is there a thread, I'm 100% sure I'll want to join it!

More kids than cash is a much better format, more like the kids and counting days of old, every day life and talking to the kids to get their take on it all. Also more realistically struggling with money with the sheer amount of them. The Radfords millionaire lifestyle now is so unpalatable knowing they've done nothing to earn it.

I could barely watch last night, it's so obviously set up. Spilt gravy cleared just before the judges come, (made up) leak mended just before estate agent came and, as Limer says, hardly any kids there anyway. Yawn yawn yawn.

I guess their days are numbered anyway as only 9 actual kids now, the rest are teenagers/grown up.

So 21 (minus alfie)

Think older 4 moved out /had kids

So 17 left at home

Is that right

There's only about 10/11 who are 'children' though.

The adult child ratio is really high. I don't think anyone believes N&S do all of the parenting.

Lots of families don't do homework/reading/extra curriculars. They aren't that unusual in that.

Wonder how well kids do at school

How many GCSEs older ones get

If the youngest can read /write well

Dd5 and I read every night - she can read very well

But I have one child and can spend the time with her teaching her the 3 r's

They never used to have books in the house (no bedtime stories 😢) and they 'didn't believe' in homework. So they really don't value education in any way, shape or form. Even when Chloe escaped to uni Sue guilt tripped her into coming home to help out with her 'high risk' pregnancy and she dropped out.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2023 15:30

Tbh she prob wouid have dropped out anyway

Same as one of the boys Luke ? Did the ta or similar the. Dropped out

I just googled and this has all the kids and ages radfordfamily.fandom.com/wiki/Radford_Family

So out of all their kids...
4 are adults who have left home
5 adults living at home
4 teenagers
3 pre-teens
5 under-10s
No babies

Definitely getting to the point where the kids are all getting older and content is harder to think of

All the grandkids ages are on there too, didn’t realise Sue was so young (36) when she became a grandma as well. There’s a fair few of them now, wonder how many they will end up with in total, could easily be 50 or more 😳

Last episode so totally scripted.

I wonder why they want a bigger house when the kids are getting older and slowly moving out?!

Probably viewing figures!

I don't get their finances. Always head to toe in designer gear, even the kids have Hunter wellies! The motor home the hot tub and then trying to do that huge renovation which is absolute madness!

Also- how the hell is their house worth 425K its 2 beds! Mines way more than thag and I'm a 3 bed semi!!

They're in a fairly cheap area, and there's probably not much demand for houses that size - even a moderately large family wouldn't need that much space. Also it seems to be in a bit of a state - probably some of it is cosmetic, but in previous series they've shown holes in walls etc.

They live in a semi right? I wonder what the other house is used for, and whether it’s a house or used as flats.

if their house goes on the market can’t see it being used as a family home. It will likely be converted into flats or used as a house share/care home or something. A bit of a weird one to try and sell I’d imagine.

Report
PieonaBarm · 25/01/2023 10:25

Next door is converted into 3 flats, they've often commented on the occupants in that one is an older chap, one is a couple.
