Well, that was downright BRUTAL. Oh my goodness. I was watching between my fingers! So interesting to see a traitor win and compare it to when the faithfuls won. There was no air-punching from me this time 😬
Poor Craig. First his best bro Nigel, then played like a fiddle by crocodile-tears Alex. His face at the end was heartbreaking. The way the twinkle in his eyes just died. I don't think I could trust anyone ever again. I don't know how anyone could ever trust Alex again.
I was rooting for Kate by the end because I think she's fab and, like Kieran, was handed an impossible task by being a late-stage recruit, but there's no doubt about it: Alex played a blinder. In fact, all the main women were amazing - Alex picked up the baton from Marielle. It was a refreshing change to the UK one, where the only real female powerhouse was Amanda. Interesting how "it must be a man because numbers" never crossed their minds here.
I find it funny that the traitor recruits were an Alex and a K-name in the UK, too. Had UK Alex accepted being a traitor mid-game the way AU Alex did, then she could have been in an equally strong, winning position. The endgame played out similarly between the last two traitors trying to boot out the other. I think it was quite obvious Alex would get to the end, if not win, because like Wilf she was the only one they really focused on for the money motivation chats.
I think there's a US version coming soon too? I'll be watching the shit out of that as well 😁 Love this format so much! I love being excited by telly again.
Ps. So long, Paul. We never knew ya.
