Very sad to read this as I really like him as a presenter on Escape To The Country. He's only 48.

Apparently, he was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years ago and it has now spread to the brain. He has decided to go public with his terminal diagnosis.

Flanjango · 13/11/2022 23:58

That's really sad. My brother was diagnosed terminal with cancer at 50. It's still a young age for that 🥺

ItchySwissRoll · 13/11/2022 23:58

That's really sad, poor guy.

RoseBucket · 14/11/2022 00:00

I’ve just read it also, so sad and 3 pre primary age children as well 😟

SkiingIsHeaven · 14/11/2022 00:07

He seems a lovely fella. I feel for his family. Poor guy.

KarenW · 14/11/2022 00:17

so terribly sad to read about this..he is an amazing presenter that always has great warmth and a sense of humour in all of the programmes that he presented. hope that he can live the best life ever in the time he has to come.

JaneJeffer · 14/11/2022 00:43

That's really sad.

Moon22 · 14/11/2022 00:45

How very very sad for him and his family.

Walkingtheplank · 14/11/2022 00:54

I saw this earlier and feel so sad for him and his family. So unfair.

I love him as a presenter, always thought he came across well, as a genuine person.

It must be devastating having to tell your family this - his poor wife and his poor children.

He mentions how pleased he is that he has life insurance and that it gives his family security. I suspect the big Hello interview is also about the money - cant blame him.

I cant imagine how stressful it is to know you wont be there for your family. I genuinely wish him well.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 14/11/2022 01:55

Very shocked to read this. I was surprised to read that he is 48. He's always looked so much younger. Always enjoyed the shows he's on.

So sad that he has three very young children who he won't see grow up. I can only imagine how awful this is for his family and feel terribly sad for his poor children.

KangarooKenny · 14/11/2022 06:54

I’m shocked at this, he was always my favourite presenter.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 14/11/2022 06:59

So sad, he is one of my favourite Escape presenters.

RosettaStormer · 14/11/2022 07:26

Oh no that is absolutely gutting. I think he’s the best presenter on the property programmes. I’m genuinely really upset.

Bowednotbroken · 14/11/2022 07:33

So very sad to see this. He was a great presenter, always seemed really interested in the people he was working with. Horrible to know he has to leave his young family. Much sympathy to them.

adriftabroad · 14/11/2022 10:37

Very shocked and sad to read this. What a beautiful family. He always seems so lovely.

mycatisannoying · 14/11/2022 14:25

Oh my word, I am so sorry to hear this.

TicketToRideFan · 14/11/2022 18:45

I’m very sad for him, to be going through a dreadful disease and to miss out on time with his young family.

And desperately sad for his poor wife left behind to cope with it all, the aftermath of her own grief and the inevitable impact on the boys.

Jonnie, you’ve been a firm favourite on A Place In The Sun for years - thank you for that.

MissyB1 · 14/11/2022 19:08

I was shocked and saddened to read this today. Lovely guy, great presenter. He says he’s living for each day and just enjoying what time he has.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 14/11/2022 20:38

I read the statement earlier. Poor man, his poor wife and kids. I hope that all of the media appearances he is doing now help him leave his family financially secure. Life is so unfair sometimes

Wombat27A · 14/11/2022 20:44

Very sad for him & his family.

Watched a Place in the Sun for years & really enjoyed his presenting.

LadyEloise1 · 14/11/2022 22:20

I too was shocked. He was always so chipper o A Place in the Sun.
Such a difficult time for him and his loved ones. Too young. Sad
