Has anyone watched the Danish version of The Bridge?

Just finished watching for a second time. Blows my mind how good it is. If you have, and loved it, what else would you recommend? I'm feeling a bit lost without my nightly episode after DS goes to bed...

I didn't know there was another version! You mean the Danish/Swedish version, four series from memory? We were absolutely addicted to this.

We moved on to The Killing afterwards. Also watched some episodes of Beck. And an Icelandic one (Valhallah something?) which was OK but not in the same league as The Bridge and The Killing. Haven't tried Wallander or Spiral.

Teadrinkingmumofone · 01/11/2022 20:12

Yes, loved it!

dudsville · 01/11/2022 20:14

What's it called OP?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/11/2022 20:14

Makes me well up just hearing it. Saga was the most wonderful character.

dudsville · 01/11/2022 20:15

We've just watched Entrapped, previous series was called Trapped, from Iceland. Can recommend!

Saga is a heroine in my house. Whenever we have a dilemma we ask what Saga would do. I say we but it’s mainly me. I got DD to watch it with me during Lockdown as like you I was happpy to see it a second time.

I’m getting chills from hearing the theme tune in my head. I love everything about the series. 😂

And DD and I are planning a trip around visiting the Oresund Bridge , although I’m still saving up for that .

Ah that brings back memories! After the lounge "never said it was good, never said it was near" we always said "it's bad, it's far"!

Oh x post with @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Or it would have been if I typed quicker.

The Bridge. It's Danish and Swedish (thanks to the poster who pointed this out, I forgot Sweden, sorry Swedes!)

We’re watching Entrapped too, although I’m not so sure it’s as good as the first season of Trapped. I do love a scandi noir but Im over the old trope of murdered women. That’s why Trapped/Entrapped and The Bridge were so good as they were far more multidimensional than the usual serial killer in a stunning landscape fare.

This is exactly why I loved it. I hate the weird voyeuristic vibes that most crime series give off. Woman raped and murdered and male detective swoops in to save the day, usually with a bit of testosterone and 'I'm gonna act violently and beat up the perp because he killed a lady' thrown in.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Spiral is amazing! Really recommend

RedRiverShore2 · 01/11/2022 20:24

There is an English/French version with a different storyline called TheTunnel which is also very good

hockeygrass · 01/11/2022 20:49

@KL2222 , I agree, Spiral is my all time favourite subtitled show but the first 3 series are a bit slow, you can miss them and pick up a bit later on.

For more Nordic I've watched Wisting on iPlayer, it's a Norwegian detective etc.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 04/11/2022 19:31

Spiral is top notch. Female star.
Loved The Bridge and Trapped. Also Borgen (Danish, not detectives but politics, with a female star).
Currently enjoying Wisting.
Follow The Money (Danish) also very good.

Alwaystheplusone · 05/11/2022 08:24

Another vote here for Spiral. Amazing characters and lots of French swearing. Would also recommend The Bureau, another French show about the security services.

PAFMO · 05/11/2022 08:31

Wisting is very good.

I'm thinking of abandoning Borgen as it's boring me. I didn't finish The Killing either.

Those who kill is Danish and it's fun to spot the Bridge actors. (Lilian is there, as is Martin) It's good, but the only thing is that each story only runs for 2 episodes so there's no red herrings or complicated plots. It's hideous murder scene + detectives make a few mistakes + detectives catch killer who has not been their prime suspect. Rinse and repeat.

My all time favourite binge watch is Casa de Papel/Money Heist though. Best thing I've ever seen.

There was a bloke in front of me in Tescos last week who looked so much like Gilou I couldn't stop staring. I miss Gillou...

HermioneWeasley · 05/11/2022 08:48

I loved it. I miss Saga, actually miss her like a friend.

the only things I think have been as good (and they’re not detective series) are Chernobyl and Dopesick

Isn't Entrapped series 1 the same as Trapped series 3?
