I've never eaten peanut butter and I have no idea why.

It's great on toast but had to be crunchy!

jay55 · 09/11/2022 21:58

Aww I liked caravan man.

TheDogsMother · 09/11/2022 21:58

See you tomorrow all.

EsmaCannonball · 09/11/2022 21:58

Follow your dreams, Darren! Follow them like a queue of traffic behind a caravan on the M42!

Yes, Whole Earth Crunchy PB on granary toast. Yum. With Nutella.

Halsall · 09/11/2022 21:59

I want some peanut butter now. Dammit.

It's a fix😅

How did Anna know she was going to wow everyone with her own food. She has been snuck in under the wire, probably been cheffing in Michelin star restaurants for years.

viques · 09/11/2022 22:06

By all, off to watch some real cookery on IACGMOOH. Gonads with samphire emulsion if Boy George has a hand in it.

And roasted hancock

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch live this week but I've caught up with tonight and enjoyed your posts. Obviously when it came to final decision making Gregg was irrelevant. Marcus just swept away his fondant objections.

JemimaTab · 10/11/2022 04:06

I still don’t really understand why Gregg’s there. They don’t really need three judges do they?

And I do wonder whether there is any artificial nonsense going on with the skills test. Whether it’s cocked up deliberately (or edited that way) for dramatic reasons?

LaMarschallin · 10/11/2022 08:34

It's quite possible, although last night's shaking hands (except Zarka's, which should have been shaking perhaps) were definitely real. I was expecting one of them to loose a finger in the fish filleting.

The trial that sticks in my mind was when they had to make a small tartlet with, iirc, a base of custard and topped with fruit.
Each of them (didn't there used to be three in each trial?) assembled the tartlet in the loose-bottomed flan tin then tipped it upside down into their hand to take the tart out, instead of standing the base on something and easing the ring down. It was so counterintuitive.

Mind you, there seems no real point to the trials as far as marking goes as they're never referred to again.
Presumably it's so we can gasp at M and A's amazing ability.
That doesn't mean I don't enjoy them though Smile

I think the general consensus is that he must know where the bodies are buried at the BBC. I can't think of another reason why he appears on bloody everything,

Sunbird24 · 10/11/2022 09:33

There definitely did used to be 3 per skills test, I thought that the other week

Halsall · 10/11/2022 09:46

Am I imagining it or didn’t they have more contestants at one point? I’m sure there used to be more than 4.

BigFatLiar · 10/11/2022 09:59

I suspect they're really just to help the contestants get over any initial nerves.

Argh! LOSE not LOOSE!
That's one of my pet hates too - hoist by my own petard Blush

Yes, I guess having a trial run with the cameras on etc isn't a bad idea.

RomainingCalm · 10/11/2022 14:19

I suppose it's a chance for them to get used to the cameras and relax a bit as well as testing how they manage under pressure, think on their feet, whether they have a 'broad' knowledge of skills and food, can they cook and talk at the same time, ability to improvise and work without a recipe/practice, see a bit of their personality...

But actually I suspect it's just good tv! 😀

Pebbledashery · 10/11/2022 20:58

Checking in. Evening peeps.
