Anyone watching this? Brilliantly acted, finding it compelling viewing.

It's completely insane isn't it? The way the people talk about a paedophile - like they couldn't possibly imagine a good 'ole bloke meaning any harm to their daughter. I keep checking for when the next episode drops!

It's totally nuts, yet you can see how he drew them in. I don't think it could happen now though. I think people are less trusting.

I think it could easily happen, but the difference is, he wouldn't get away with the initial "kidnap" now but then I think the whole grooming process would be more subtle nowadays.

The documentary is also very good. It's called "abducted in plain sight"

I've been watching A friend of the family too and to echo everyone it's scary just how trusting the family were and yet easily to see how "B" basically groomed Jan and both of her parents, in particular her mother just to gain access to Jan

I know a family where something similar happened, a friend of the family was shagging the mother, father and the legal,but only just, teenage daughter . Really fucked up.

I'm watching the series now, I'm finding it very hard not to victim blame the mother to be honest.
