A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, language, film and music when the mood takes us. A few of us are learning Korean, Japanese and/or Mandarin (some more diligently than others admittedly), so we swap tips and links to language resources. Basically, anything topical goes.

Daebak! We had two patients at work watching the matches on their TV's and the drs and I were keeping an eye on the score! V exciting in the final minutes!

I can already see lots of dramas referring to SK’s dramatic entry in to top 16.

The Dalmajung pixie cups arrived yesterday! Really pleased I ordered them as they will actually be used (though possibly for soju/makgeolli more than tea...)

I caved in and got excited about the football yesterday, despite saying I wouldn't watch. There go my principles 🙄 I was cheering in Korean at the tv, which gave Mr Saram plenty of opportunities to deploy his side-eyes 😁

@MigsandTiggs I have family visiting this weekend so no chance to listen properly 😬 but everything I hear is very positive 😍 Will be settling down to enjoy it (and his TINY DESK concert 😱 did we all get that memo?!) on Tuesday 😊

First Love is lush. The colour palette is fabulous (remember we saw that in One Night Morning too, Pol?).

It's a good production, there's quite a few famous faces in it.

My only complaint is the way FL eats the prawn, shell and all 😱

Cake for breakfast and Ahn Hyo Seop in the oppa advent calendar. My Saturday just got off to a perfect start. It cheers me to know I’d be able to converse with Seop as he grew up in Canada (and went by Paul 🤔).

After my real advent calendar, Oppa advent calendar is such a cosy solace.

Ahn Hyo Seop is such a sweetie. I loved the little duet he did with Kim Se-jeong to celebrate the double-digit ratings for Business Proposal, it was so cute.
