A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. A few of us are learning Korean, Japanese and/or Mandarin (some more diligently than others admittedly), so we swap tips and links to language resources. Basically, anything topical goes.

I want to start Somebody. Is it really bad?

Just finished the filming in the Haunted House episode of LIFS. It's a peculiar show for me. In spite of lots of supporting characters with a novel plot it still seems to be quite slow?

Have you a strong constitution for graphic violence? Its a proper psychological horror.

Moving away from baguettes (or perhaps not - you decide 😁): having enormously enjoyed last year's BTS Season's Greetings (it really is the gift that keeps giving) I was checking online one more time to confirm there won't be one this year 😥. I was amazed to see that Cokodive have Season's Greetings sets for actors as well as idols 😱Was everyone else aware of this?!

Lee Dong-wook is a snip at 67 euros (calendar, diary, etc and a very bling keyring), while Song Kang's (76 euros to you madam) includes some nice masking tape with his face all over it and a handy phone strap.

I've just managed to watch Deliver Us From Evil before it disappeared from Film 4 (what was I saying about busy?) A really good solid thriller with a very dark undertone (trafficking) but satisfying end.

Fedup and Loup if you have access to a Costco, they've just added new Korean items. I had their chicken and veg mandu for dinner with my home made kimchi and it was very tasty. I've also tried their bibimbap (without a fried egg). They sell japchae, fried chicken and vegetable pancakes too, all in the frozen foods section. The food isn't Hongdae Pocha standard, but more than acceptable.

BTW my kimchi was delicious!!😎

I've finished Somebody. It was very strange. Think Killing Eve mixed with Dhamer and a sprinkling of hardcore sex scenes (last 10 mins of ep 7 even more shocking than ep 3!)

I need a mind cleanse next, will revert back to LIFS.

To anyone with Prime I really recommend May I Help You?. so far if you want soothing. Some tear jerkery storylines but Hyeri and Whoever ML Is CBA To Look Up Now have a lovely fizz building.
