A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. I have started Forever & Ever and I have so many questions like what’s the relationship between manbun guy (
who btw is top oppa) & sister.
Why no one is saying anything to other DIL after a cousin ended up on hospital? Who is
cousin’s husband?
Where is the mum of the 14yr old cousin?
Are 2nd brother & unwell sister twins?
So ML has twin siblings and rest are all cousins?
Drama is quite slow pace so I get more time to contemplate on these questions.

Having watched entire drama Jin I'd like to say that I have answers to all of these questions but...
Some of them are Plot and will become clearer as you progress. The comatose pregnant cousin in hospital however is never seen or heard of again which did occasionally puzzle me when I remembered.
Also the whole relatives who are servants thing mysterious.
And the 5am breakfasts.

I've finished Gaduri Restaurant, thankfully it's short as couldn't really recommend it and wouldn't give it more than a 6/10. The VIKI rating of 9.6 has me somewhat baffled.

Boaty if you haven't watched Juvenile Justice I would recommend.

The coat thing goes for kdrama too. Mind you, the coats are beautiful and show the oppas off to best effect. It is a puzzler but I can’t get angry about it.

I can’t decide whether idol status means you are better or worse prepared for military service. Idol training sounds gruelling and very physical. Most idols seem to have to diet and live on hard rations and have their days planned for them. Touring sounds like a chore. The lack of privacy and comfort, on the other hand, could be hard.
