I'm fairly sure last year we agreed that a big part of what made him attractive was he looked like he could put a shelf up for you, before whisking you off dancing and then "finish the night by shagging you senseless" I think was the description. Grin

Nadiya is a lucky, lucky, gorgeous woman!

SequinsandStilettos · 27/10/2022 17:22

Songs being used across the pond on Monday. Not sure we're missing much.

"Halloween Theme"—District 78 contempowaft
"Tanguera"—Fabio Hager Sexteto AT
"I Wanna Be Your Slave"—Måneskin tango
"Ghost (Acoustic)"—Justin Bieber contempowaft
"Bury a Friend"—Billie Eilish paso
"Get Ghost"—Mark Ronson, Passion Pit & ASAP paso
"Look What You Made Me Do"—Taylor Swift jazz
"Oogie Boogie's Song"—Ed Ivory & Ken Page tango
"Shivers"—District 78, featuring Mikayla Lynn AT
(Team Wicked) "The Witches Are Back" (from Hocus Pocus 2)
(Team Scream) "Heads Will Roll"—Yeah Yeah Yeahs

which reminded me of Val's tango in a non-halloween week. I cannot watch Ashley and Pasha's because Taytay was murdered by the Glitterball singers that week.

Who no doubt now is the proud owner of a fabulous shelving system, sore feet and a smug and satisfied smile.

strictlypro · 27/10/2022 18:30

Kai is quite lucky himself 🥵

ArcaneWireless · 27/10/2022 18:54

Indeed he is. Isn’t she just stunning?

SequinsandStilettos · 27/10/2022 19:37

Wtf has Icarus got to do with Halloween?!
I love Greek mythology but a cautionary tale does not equate to a Halloween group dance, even if Nikita gets to fly.

EsmaCannonball · 27/10/2022 19:44

I just can't see how Nadiya fits into the Catherine Cookson adaptation though. She clearly never sold whelks from a handcart or suffered from stunted growth after a childhood in the workhouse. She's even far too shiny and glamorous to play Christabel, the high-spirited but callous mill-owner's daughter. It's like Vesper Lynd has wandered onto the set of The Tattered Bonnet.

Could she be the Discarded Mistress of the Son of the Wealthy Pit Owner? Having lost her virtue when he promised her marriage and then reneged (twirling his moustachios as he cruelly laughed and thrust her out into the snow, disgraced) , she was forced to accept a Role on the Stage to support herself and her golden-haired moppet.

Now working in the very mill of the Cad Who Deflowered Her, she cannot help but retain the glamour of the Painted Jezebel Persona she was Forced To Adopt during this Terrible Times.

Cough cough. I can do that. Just saying 😜

Kai is quite nice and looks great in a suit but his teeth are just too bonkers for me. Nadiya is just stunning

Did anyone see Katya and Tony on ITT last night? Thought she was really mean - kept going on about how he messed up on Saturday and had done so much better in rehearsals. And Tony said she told him he got the score he deserved (19). Janette kept trying to point out his positives and bring the mood back up and seemed a bit hacked off with Katya, understandably!

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 28/10/2022 11:40

@Lottapianos

I did think I detected a slightly glacial expression on Katya’s face, talking about Tony’s mishaps, that’s not normally in evidence. Will have to keep eyes peeled on Saturday 😀

That's a bit cruel. Tony's doing his best, and she isn't going to build up his confidence telling him how rubbish he is.@

VickyGiggIesStrictlyHaIIoweenHorrors · 28/10/2022 12:39

Did you see Motsi on Graham Norton? She sent a text to her first partner Guildo Horn (oddball Eurovision German entry/singer) by mistake telling him he was shit! Grin Awkward.

Lottapianos · 28/10/2022 13:06

'That's a bit cruel. Tony's doing his best, and she isn't going to build up his confidence telling him how rubbish he is'

It was really unnecessary. The pros are usually very good at being, well, professional about their partners, even when they're rubbish at dancing!

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/10/2022 13:23

Katya should think herself lucky she wasn't paired with Jayde.

Not only a rubbish dancer with no musicality and the grace of an African water buffalo, but all of that nauseating rubbing noses.

I'm disappointed with Katya, though.

Obviously she wants to do as well as she can, but she must be very aware that Tony isn't going to get anywhere near the final, and should just go for it and enjoy the time that the two of them are still in the competition. I never thought she'd be like that.

ArcaneWireless · 28/10/2022 13:42

I’m not surprised.

It was totally unnecessary.

I do think professionals have an understandable competitive edge but their celebs are not professional dancers.

To criticise someone for not being as accomplished as you want them to be when they’ve had 6 weeks and you’ve had 20 plus years? In public?

I can understand thinking it. You just should shut your trap and never say it.

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/10/2022 13:52

Exactly!

Go home and beat your head off the kitchen worktop in sheer frustration and despair if you must, then neck a glass of wine, pin on a glittering smile, and go back and do it all again tomorrow.

That's professionalism.

(TBH I'm surprised Anton hasn't fractured his skull against the wall when I think of some of the duffers he's had to drag round the dance floor - but he's never (publicly at any rate) been mean to them.)

Topgub · 28/10/2022 14:39

I've never really understand why the pros get so excited/upset at good or bad scores or getting put out

The judges are less capable (or only as good as) dancers than they are and surely they know they can't all win?

They get paid regardless right?

Because it reflects on how well they think they are at doing at their job. If you put in a lot of effort to teach someone to dance and the judges tell you it's shit, of course you'll be upset.

But the pros can presumably tell quite quickly how much talent and potential their
celebrity has, and adjust their hopes and expectations accordingly. It doesn't follow that a bad dancer means bad teaching.
Obviously pro dancers are very very competitive (with any elite performer, you need a ruthless edge to get there in the first place), and criticism is bad for their competitive sensibilities and their egos. But most of the time they seem to remember that they're teaching, in many cases, non-dancers who will simply not achieve that much in absolute terms, and focus instead on their sleb's hard work and improvement.
I remember aeons ago when Peter Schmeichel danced with the famously fierce and ambitious Erin. He was a duffer, God love him, but in one VT she said, 'He comes in in the morning smiling, gives me a hundred per cent all day, and goes home at night still smiling, and I can't ask for any more than that.' I liked her a great deal for that attitude.

Topgub · 28/10/2022 16:14

@SoupDragon

Nah.

Dancing is a skill. It's not something you can just learn, especially not in 5 days.

Some people will never be dancers and presumably the pros know that.

So I don't get the gurning over a low score or going out in week 3.

Money for nothing ain't it
