Why on earth are people so bothered about same sex dance partners?

I will admit I didn't like the idea before they did it but, when I watched it, I realised it made no difference whatsoever.

Why shouldn't there be same sex partners? Things evolve - even ballroom dancing.

CuriousMama · 23/10/2022 23:29

Same sex partners is a non issue.

I'm pleased Jayde went. She comes across as fab and her leaving speech was heartfelt. But she isn't going to improve much.

Tony has improved. He's also very entertaining 😀

Nolemonade · 23/10/2022 23:38

I want to watch a light entertainment show not be hammered over the head with a message or psa by Jade every week. She is a sore loser too judging by her antics in Twitter.

She is an overweight white woman who gets booked to work in her chosen field and just had the biggest exposure on a flagship bbc prime time show. She needs to sit down with hardship olympics before she gets her arse handed to her by people with actual barriers to accessing the sort of exposure and opportunities she’s had.

PurplePositivity · 23/10/2022 23:59

Just caught up and the right person went.

I do wish they'd all do the same dance each week, it'd be much clearer who was the better dancer.

MavisChunch29 · 23/10/2022 20:43

I think everyone should be able to dance with the sex of partner they want, or be able to wear trousers/dress/heels/short hair/long hair etc regardless of sexuality or gender identity.

Exactly this 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Apparently our existence is awkward, and some people don’t like looking at people who look ‘awkward’ oh and its been done to death and is now boring, where as hetero couples dancing is a really new thing that we rarely see it seems.

RoachTheHorse · 24/10/2022 07:19

I love watching same sex couples dance, that's a non issue for me. But I'm pleased Jayde went this week. I know Tony should probably have gone, but I think he's got such a good attitude, and Jayde just had an air of someone who expects to be given stuff.

That may be unfair but it's how she came across to me. I watch the show to be entertained, and she didn't entertain me 🤷‍♀️

I'm sorry you're having to read this in the 21st century.

PrincessScarlett · 24/10/2022 07:27

@Nolemonade you're right, Jayde has been busy on Twitter!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 07:53

those twitter arguments are not a good look from Jayde

Tabbouleh · 24/10/2022 08:02

Yikes her Twitter! Jayde is so unbelievably entitled and delusional. A professional victim. Contrast that to Richie or Matt's graciousness when voted off.

SolInvictus · 24/10/2022 08:16

Good god.

elephantseal · 24/10/2022 08:19

Not impressed by her Twitter feed and shaming anyone who has disagreed with her... She doesn't have much humility.

LaMarschallin · 24/10/2022 08:20

Not on Twitter - please could anybody give a flavour of what she's been saying?

MoveMore · 24/10/2022 08:21

Can someone summarise what’s she’s being saying on twitter at all? I haven’t got it. i hadn’t heard of her / saw her prior to strictly. When announced I actually assumed she’d be the one I’d be rooting for as a comedian I assumed some funny moments and I’m a similar size to her so was quite impressed she’d be dancing (I can hardly walk across a dance floor never mind do proper moves!). However I just haven’t enjoyed watching her at all. All very manipulative feeling with causes weekly and I just don’t like the way she interacts with Karen. The nose bops and stuff. It’s nothing to do with them both being woman - JJ & J were my favoured couple last year great chemistry and dancing. It all seems a bit out on with Jayden and Karen as the pro having to follow. Like ohh let’s make nose bops “our thing” people will think it’s cute 🤮 Sadly she was also too unfit to manage the full dances. She’s not the only contestant and it’s not always because they are overweight. Dancing is really high stamina and she doesn’t have it. As I said above I’m similar size I couldn’t dance for 10 seconds without being out of breath. It’s not healthy and I’m not sure it should be being promoted either really.

FuzzyPuffling · 24/10/2022 08:39

Not on twitter either. Summary please?

icelollycraving · 24/10/2022 08:47

Blimey, her Twitter is pretty enlightening. Any tweet not saying she was amazing is then answered in such a bratty way.
I started off liking her, some of her dances were great but this one wasn’t. I smiled with not at her.
I am size 20-22 so I’m not fattist. I understand what it would take physically to move and train, I couldn’t do it!
I read an old article yesterday where she said she was a trained dancer. Really? I thought it was dancing with her sister in their living room.
I didn’t personally enjoy the pulling on the heart strings stuff, and the whole ‘take it to the grave’ made me roll my eyes.
If you’re voted out, take it with good grace. Far better dancers have lost out in dance offs. Molly is a fab dancer. If they had kept Jayde over her, she’d definitely have been in the dance off again next week.
Being bigger on Strictly does not mean you can’t move. Lisa Riley was great but it came to a point where the lifts and stuff didn’t look good. I remember everyone being amazed after her first dance. Hamza is so light on his feet. Russell Grant not so much but I loved watching him. There comes a point where people need to leave. I think she genuinely thought she was amazing which tbh the judges reaffirmed. I think they liked her enthusiasm but were terrified of getting negative press if they were too harsh.
I don’t care if they are same sex or not. John and Johannes had a beautiful partnership last year. I didn’t really enjoy the ones this year.
As a Strictly super fan, she knows how it works.

SoupDragon · 24/10/2022 08:51

apparently they competed in disco competitions together. Wiki mentions 12 years dancing at her aunt's dancing school or something like that.

icelollycraving · 24/10/2022 08:53

Ah ok, thank you. Fair dos. Like Baby’s dad, when I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong 😁

SolInvictus · 24/10/2022 09:01

This is how she's reacting to people simply talking about her dancing:

There's a bratty post to someone who has said simply "she wasn't very good, why keep her in?" She's answered with "somebody get Linda a paddle quick" (presumably "Linda" for Jayde is going up shit creek without one?)

There's this:
"I think that was the correct dance off, and the correct result tonight on #strictly - the public and the judges got it right - the surviving couple had danced to an abysmal piece of music, and although I've enjoyed the losing celebrity, I think we'd seen enough of them."

As a response to this pretty innocent tweet she says "he thinks he's not going to see me dance on TV again"

There are retweets about her breaking the mould and citing same sex partnerships, women dancing with women and overweight people on SCD. Given Nicola Adams, John Waite, Judi Love and a whole host of others, I'm going to hazard that she's possibly not the "superfan" of SCD she claims to be.

She really is a deeply unpleasant character. The more I see, the less I want to.

Sunbird24 · 24/10/2022 09:03

@SolInvictus I’d assume she meant a judge’s paddle in the first example?

SolInvictus · 24/10/2022 09:06

Ahhh, ok!
Just as bad I guess. Anybody thinking she should have gone should be on the judges who didn't ultimately save her. Hmm. Don't think she thought that through!

i didn't understand those comments either. It's all been done before hasn't it? Apart from a straight woman wanting a same sex dance partner I guess.

Sunbird24 · 24/10/2022 09:15

She’s probably had/having to deal with so many nasty comments about her weight that it’s hard for her to respond differently to the more reasonable comments about this week’s dance. She was the right person to go this time (in my opinion) but it’s a bit annoying that the press have to claim a ‘shock’ exit seemingly every week.

multicolouredblouse · 24/10/2022 09:17

If she's such a superfan, why hadn't she worked out that people dont often vote for celebrities that are OTT or appear full of themselves? I went off her when she was talking to Claudia and started fake crying and whispering "I can't believe I just did that..I closed the show on movie week.." Made me want to vomit. As for the way she used the death if her poor sister to try to get votes...awful.
