She really is quite childish. Those that have deleted their Twitter comments after she's had a go at them, she's then claiming some sort of victory 🙄

LizzieSiddal · 24/10/2022 09:30

Yes she’s not dealing with criticism with any decorum is she. I saw some of the deleted tweets and they were criticising her dancing so I don’t see why she has to get annoyed about that. (Fair enough if they’re body shaming though )

PrincessScarlett · 24/10/2022 09:40

Yes, totally agree with Jayde calling out those who are being vile about her size but she seems to be having a go at everyone, even those saying they like her but it was the right decision for her to go 🙄

BonnesVacances · 24/10/2022 09:46

There's another tweet from Jayde that calls for the tweeter to learn the Charleston in 5 days and do better.

I agree she's coming across very unpleasant. She knew the show format, knew she'd have 5 days to learn a dance and she'd be judged on it. Unless she expected to win the show, she was going to get voted off sometime for not dancing well enough.

SoupDragon · 24/10/2022 09:53

Plenty of contestants do learn the Charleston in 5 days and do it better though.

obviously some don't as well, just to balance it out.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 09:56

I guess this is why the judges were so effusive over her entertainment, because of her and others reaction

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 09:57

If I were her I wouldn't even go on twitter, I would hope to maintain a dignified silence

EvilRingahBitch · 24/10/2022 10:02

This was always a disaster waiting to happen. Jayde's not been my favourite contestant, but she's been getting some unnecessarily nasty personal comments on social media. Combine that with someone who's always been very thin skinned and twitchy and it's going to get messy. She's never been able to resist the temptation to Google herself and attack anyone saying anything negative, Monkseal was saying that he was wary of even mentioning her name.

It's sad, when you compare her with Susan Calman. In many ways they're comparable as female standups and Strictly Superfans who don't fit the physical ideal of a dancer. And on paper Jayde had five good weeks, a wonderful partnership, supportive judges and achieved everything she wanted. But somehow it's ending on a sour note.

NB, any implied comparison between Kevin and Karen is genuinely coincidental, I don't blame Karen for a moment.

Tabbouleh · 24/10/2022 10:10

I thought Jayde sang rather well, did she not?

Notably Helen did last week!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 24/10/2022 10:27

There are so many absolutely bloody fantastic Charlestons on Strictly that that shouldn’t be the hill on which she chooses to die - challenging people to do better in 5 days or fewer.

Um, I would like to enter into evidence: Caroline Flack, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Danny Mac, Georgia May Foote, Kellie Bright, Louis Smith, Faye Tozer…And that’s just off the top of my head.

Fizbosshoes · 24/10/2022 10:31

I think that the professionals and choreographers work within the limits of a person's fitness level and ability (sometimes adding comedy elements to "disguise" lack of dance content looking at you Anton )

What happens -and it's happened in previous years with contestants of varying ages and sizes- is there are some dances that can be suitably adapted somewhat, and some where there is nowhere to hide. I enjoyed Jaydes wind beneath my wings dance but I think unfortunately the Charleston did show she was possibly lacking the energy levels to pull it off. The difference between Helens and hers was like night and day.

Twonewcats · 24/10/2022 10:53

It was only today I found out Jayde is straight. I thought she was v flirty with Karen and has therefore assumed she was gay

Precisely!

As though she had been given less time than anyone else on the show.

She's never been able to resist the temptation to Google herself and attack anyone saying anything negative

Another Jack Monroe?

Monkseal was saying that he was wary of even mentioning her name.

I thought Monkseal had retired? Love him!

<off to google>

hopelessbusiness · 24/10/2022 11:38

Do we think Jayde will go on It Takes Two tonight?

Emotionalsupportviper · 24/10/2022 11:40

That would be interesting @hopelessbusiness

SoupDragon · 24/10/2022 11:54

I actually didn't rate Helen's Charleston much either. I thought it relied heavily on the sailor hopping bits (they have a proper name!) and didn't seem to have many of the swivelly bits. Craig didn't mention this so I assume I just didn't see it as he's usually hot on it.

SoupDragon · 24/10/2022 11:55

Helen's had energy though.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 24/10/2022 12:11

They needed to do the horn pipe moves though as the song is a horn pipe. Helen’s dance was great, it was just tricky music (for everyone) that night.

Yes I thought she did a very good Victoria Wood for her into. Also very impressed with the Strictly band singer's VW impression.

EvilRingahBitch · 24/10/2022 12:24

Monkseal isn't blogging any more Sad but is still on Twitter (under his real name, Chris Rubery) and comments on Digital Spy.

queenofthewild · 24/10/2022 12:28

I just feel for Karen going out wearing that wig.

SequinsandStilettos · 24/10/2022 12:30

Jayde can sing very well, which is why I thought she'd have more musicality.
Plus size myself, I lack stamina and I know my knees would go. This happened to Mark Benton and also, Amber Riley on DWTS. Both had bandaged/supported knees towards the end of the competition.
Amber won her series and was amazing.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 24/10/2022 12:40

Not surprising she won from those clips - awesome dancing. And outfits that suit her, while Jayde’s seems designed to do the opposite.

cordelia16 · 24/10/2022 12:56

I loved Amber on Glee. She did some dance routines on the show, but nothing like this. She's amazing!
