The judges may have done it on purpose.

Nothing would surprise me with their batshit crazy scoring. It's probably easy to manipulate the voting public with stupidly high or stupidly low scoring and their mad/harsh comments to certain contestants.

Emotionalsupportviper · 23/10/2022 19:33

Jayde would have been a lot more popular if the judges hadn't showed her such obvious favouritism.

Hoping next week we can all go back to just voting for our favourite dances… 💃🏼🕺🏻

I've been doing that all along.

The judges put Jayde into the dance off by the over-marking. The public just don't like being taken the piss out of.

I liked Jayde as a person but she didn't really dance much compared to the others.

Completely agree - I loved Jayde and Karen and their initial partnership but she did very little dancing. If the judges had called her out on this, I'd have been more supportive but given they were gushing over her and over-marked her, it really annoyed me!

She was definitely the right person to go. Tony is trying so hard & showing so much improvement and genuinely entertains me, that I love watching him!

I do think they've all stepped up and absolutely loved Kym's dress - so pretty!

TitsInAbsentia · 23/10/2022 20:26

I think I have to crown that as the episode with the worse music ever....ever ever...also think Abba, Imagine Dragons and the Sweet were cheat tunes, why make everyone else dance to a hideous theme tune and then allow three loosely related tunes? If you can't run with the theme properly then don't do it. I have to be honest we're dreading Halloween next week :(

2Rebecca · 23/10/2022 20:26

Glad Jade has gone. I didn't dislike her but she couldn't dance and I don't think fat women should get out of dancing traditionally as a woman just because they're fat. I think the same sex couples should be scrapped your sexuality shouldn't affect what sex of person you dance with in ballroom.
I also think " couple's choice" should be their choice of the standard dances not made up non ballroom stuff

MavisChunch29 · 23/10/2022 20:43

I think everyone should be able to dance with the sex of partner they want, or be able to wear trousers/dress/heels/short hair/long hair etc regardless of sexuality or gender identity.

Jayde couldn't have stayed

No she couldn't. She was one or two weeks away from the public getting angry at her staying while better dancers were booted out.

2Rebecca · 23/10/2022 21:10

That's not how ballroom works though. That's a different sort of dancing. Modern dance

augustusglupe · 23/10/2022 21:10

ArcaneWireless Brilliant!! 😄

Cuck00soup · 23/10/2022 21:11

I was highly entertained by Jayde's Flashdance routine. It made me laugh out loud in an Anne Widdicombe being dragged around the floor way.

It was the right result. And it's not fattist. As others have pointed out, there have been other large people who have danced well. Jayde didn't dance, or try.

InABigCountry · 23/10/2022 21:18

Fantastic @ArcaneWireless , I was singing your words to the tune!

I personally don't think it had anything to do with Jayde's size/ shape- Lisa Riley from Emmerdale was a great dancer on Strictly, she was seen as "larger" or whatever.

Bluevelvetsofa · 23/10/2022 21:42

I think Tony is only still there because Katya can dance around him . I don’t see that much improvement, but next week will show now that Jayde isn’t there.

Vapeyvapevape · 23/10/2022 21:47

Just watched it on catch up and am so pleased that Jayde has gone , she really was the weakest dancer and it was the right and fairest decision.
I'm sure Giovanni's new teeth can be seen from space !

NeedWineNow · 23/10/2022 22:11

@ArcaneWireless That is, officially, the best post(s) I've seem on MN. I've just sing the verses to DH. Classic!

2Rebecca · 23/10/2022 22:19

I don't think she was voted off due to her size but she didn't even try to do proper ballroom. Humza is large but can dance and tries to do it properly and isn't getting 8s for just striding around in time to the music

FartOutLoudDay · 23/10/2022 22:21

Not a Jayde fan, the worthiness felt manipulative in the end, but I think it’s harsh to say she didn’t try - she definitely had some entertainment value and there was some good stuff in her dance last night. Happy she’s gone though, and glad that theme week is out the way!

UrsulaPandress · 23/10/2022 22:32

Gender identity my arse.

Mindthegap725 · 23/10/2022 22:32

I felt it was hard on Molly and Carlos to have to dance to the Grange Hill theme tune and then be told it was all “one speed” and “clompy” - sorry but what else do you do with that tune?

While we are talking about gender stuff anyway. I read about Jayde saying she chose to dance with a woman so she could do lifts and things - ok so she needs to be judged to the same standards as a male dancer and that's fine. But I've seen a few comments on Twitter about her wanting to be seen as an 'ally'/queer without being a lesbian which is fine I guess but wouldn't lesbians rather have a lesbian representing them?

Fizbosshoes · 23/10/2022 23:02

We missed it yesterday so watched today fast forwarding all the training and waffle. Agree with just about everyone else, the marking was crazy.

Jayde did barely any steps in the Charleston which is a very high energy bouncy type of dance (Helen and Gorkas was fab!) and the steps she did do weren't light or bouncy. she mainly seemed to assist Karen to do cartwheels, and impressive tricks, while standing still. And then got amazing marks for it.

Tony's technique is admittedly not great, but you can see he's learnt (or tried to learn!) 3 x as many steps as Jayde, and Katya hasn't given him the option of being largely sedentary while she does all the dancing, they are doing equal amounts of steps (albeit with Katya being 100 x better!)

We thought Kyms dance was really good. Absolutely amazed at the (low) scores.

Agree too the Grange Hill was not a great theme tune for a dance and although it was a bit boring/safe they were somewhat limited by the music choice. Glad Molly stayed.

I don't dislike Jayde but I think she was the weakest dancer this week and fair that it was her turn to go.
