I too thought Jayde was dreadful last night. She just stood there, not good enough which is a shame as last weeks dance was elegant and beautiful.

Hamza to win for me.

ArcaneWireless · 23/10/2022 10:32

I won’t do it, can’t do it
I cannot get the rhythm right
Feet trailing, arms flailing
Ye really cannae polish shite
I’m lumpen, a bit stumpen
But you can get to feck with all of that nose bumpen
Get to it, let’s not do it to- naaaaaaiiiiiiiight.

awaynboilyurheid · 23/10/2022 10:56

arcane Brilliant!

Cuck00soup · 23/10/2022 11:00

Loving the sublime work on the extra verses to Freda & Barry.

Vapeyvapevape · 23/10/2022 11:03

Tbh , I will start to think the show is rigged if Jayde isn't in the dance-off, there's so much on sm saying she's rubbish so I hope people aren't voting for her.

EvilRingahBitch · 23/10/2022 11:04

I was out yesterday evening so have only just caught up (fast forwarded through most of the chat and only really watched the dances).

Loved Ellie T's and Jojo's drama acting.
Helen and Mollie left me cold for some reason.
I thought that Casualty, Doctor Who and Line of Duty theme musics worked pretty well for their intended dance styles, the others not so much.

Nikita's choreography was brilliant.

Jayde was much much better than reading the comments before hand would have led me to believe. It wasn't great, but there was a lot of fairly active Charleston going on. I honestly didn't feel, as I did in bits of her AS, that she was walking rather than dancing (probably because the dance style concealed that tendency: a lot of Charleston is indistinguishable from fast walking anyway).

I did think that Jayde made a terrible decision in tone. She's a comedian, who's doing a classic comedy number, in a tribute to BBC comedy, doing her dream partnership with her new best mate, having had a run of heartfelt but depressing emotional VTs. This is the time to turn it around and be upbeat and joyous, and not to focus on the tragically early loss of Victoria Wood.

MS302 · 23/10/2022 11:05

If Lord Reith could see the BBC now he would be shocked.

iklboo · 23/10/2022 11:09

Here's another extra verse for Barry & Freda. Sorry, but it was torturous to watch.

I can't do it, can't do it
Who the fuck thought of this?
No swivel, such drivel
Folk will think I'm taking the piss
I'm shoddy, so ploddy
I've seen better dancing on an episode of Noddy
Don't do it, Jayde be gone toniiiiiiiiiiight'

Nannylovesshopping · 23/10/2022 11:17

Brilliant extra verses for Barry and Freda, made me laugh out loud,
I don’t do that often, generally grumpy old woman!

lollipoprainbow · 23/10/2022 11:21

Jayde wasn't as awful as I thought she'd be after seeing the comments here !!

Did Tess say something about Ellie being pregnant and congratulations after the judges had spoken? I've rewound it but can't hear what she said but sounded like pregnant !!

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/10/2022 11:22

@ArcaneWireless
Love it. Can I have a go? 😀

Let’s do it
Get to it
I’m a lovely dancer, meeee!
Outstanding, grandstanding,
They love me at the BBC!
Out early? Ask Shirley,
She’s the one who says that I’m the bestest girlie,
You betcha, I’m not going out to-niiiight!!!!

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/10/2022 11:23

@iklboo 😆

EsmaCannonball · 23/10/2022 11:24

If they're going to keep Couple's Choice (please don't), it really needs a new name. I suspect Molly and Carlos had a choice in last night's whatever in the same way that Belarussians have a choice in elections. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Carlos was dangled by his ankles off the roof of Television Centre until Molly recanted her desire to give the public her Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street.

What makes Tony so funny is the sincerity. You can see that Katya has drilled the correct technique into him but he throws himself at it so hard that it looks more wrong than if he got it less right. It's always much more endearing when a celeb is unintentionally bad than when a comedy routine is flagged as funny all week and then just isn't.

I adore Victoria Wood and am a bit annoyed that Strictly just didn't 'get' that song. It was too childish. It needed to be ruder and funnier and more daring. Where was the hostess trolley? Where was the catalogue on vinyl flooring? Where was the avocado?

In general, I think there was a problem with the choreography failing to reference the source material. Both the tangos, just for example, had nothing to do with Doctor Who or Casualty once they got going. It all seemed a bit pointless.

SoupDragon · 23/10/2022 11:27

Nikita's choreography was brilliant.

He is doing an amazing job.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 23/10/2022 11:28

Grin at the verses.

At least Jayde was memorable (even if not for good reason!). Tony too. It took me a bit to remember what dances Fleur and Molly did!

I loved Nancy's skirt, but I don't think I'm convinced by the idea of an aggressive Viennese waltz.

Loving all the new verses, cracking job!

EvilRingahBitch · 23/10/2022 11:34

How do you make a jive to Waterloo, in full costume, forgettable? Baffling.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/10/2022 11:36

Thinking about Molly... I was a bit surprised at her seeming to take responsibility for that terrible cc. Wasn’t sure if she was just trying to make it clear she was okay with the critique, or did she really contribute much to choreographing the routine?

Shirley:
I can’t say it, won’t say it
Even though I think she’s shite
Fantastic! Iconoclastic!
If I’m loud enough they’ll think I’m right
Avoid vultures, cancel culture
Even if she blows out all the infrastructure
I won’t say it, I can’t say it toniiiiight!

Topgub · 23/10/2022 11:47

I thought molly dance was a copy of tillys matilda one last year

But not as good

I did like that Viennese waltz but only because it was more like a paso which is one of my favourite dances to watch generally. That and a good Charleston <gives Jayde a pointed hard stare >

Watching Will’s dance made me go back and rewatch Rose and Giovanni and Danny and Oti’s Viennese waltzes - both quite feisty dances which I loved!

ArcaneWireless · 23/10/2022 12:00

Can’t do it, won’t do it
My leotard is far too tight
I’m seething’, not breathin’
My lungs have given up the fight
My belly, like jelly
No one ever wobbles quite like me on telly,
I’ve had it, let’s not do it tonight.

I can’t do it, I won’t do it,
My feet just feel like sweat and pus,
Flesh flappin’, it needs wrappin’,
I think I’m going to buy a truss

heel leadin, not succeedin,
don’t make me learn a fleckerl it’ll do ma heid in,
let’s not do it, I can’t do it tonight

EsmaCannonball · 23/10/2022 12:11

I've just watched Kym's quickstep back and, she's not exactly my favourite and she's doing Strictly half-arsed, but it was actually pretty decent. The judges obviously thought the best way to celebrate the BBC's centenary was to end on a sour note.

Twonewcats · 23/10/2022 12:13

LifeOfBriony · 22/10/2022 21:07

Yes, could be. What about the woman on her right?

How's she doing it half arsed?
