Did anyone else in the more mature Mumsnet line watch this in a glow of nostalgia last night? I had forgotten how really excellent The Specials were live (The Beat were the band I liked best on record). And seeing Desmond Tutu and the great man himself grooving along to Free Nelson Mandela at the end reminded me forcefully and happily that in my lifetime apartheid bit the dust! V interesting documentary all round I thought. Used to work at the same college as Gilroy, he's still as eloquent and hunky as ever

Ah, but you were/are a young thing by comparison with some of the hardened badge-wearing vinyl-toting women on this thread...

Do you remember that funny dance we used to do?! Kind of hopping from side to side...

Before that, I was into punk and leaping around at the Lyceum, packed between sweaty bodies and covered with spit...

it's a wonder I didn't get hepatitis.

At my school you were allowed to be into EITHER punk and reggae OR soul.. and my crowd chose punk and reggae. Took me a long time to admit I actually preferred soul. And even longer to learn how to dance properly
