I can't love Richie because he adds the extra 'h' into words..."shtrong", "shtreet" and it annoys the hell out of me. ( And don't give me the "it's dialect" line...I lived in the West Midlands for over 20 years and never heard it there)

Benjispruce4 · 09/10/2022 09:40

I’d presumed Jayde was gay. Apologies. Had never heard of her before Strictly.

Tabbouleh · 09/10/2022 09:46

Catching up with last night's show.

Jayde was incredibly stompy and heavyfooted. With all those years of dance experience I expect her to be lighter on her feet. I don't think Karen's choreo was great either.

Katya on the other hand could choreo for an ironing board and make it look entertaining. I think Tony is a great sport.

Poor Gio having to dress like that. Pretty terrible samba but I still think Ritchie is better than Jayde, Matt or Hamza. He had an off day.

Putting my money on Will Mellor to win though he isn't my favourite. Don't seem to have a fave this year. All my fave pros have gone, or will go shortly. The celebs this year seem a bit meh.

It's only from these threads that I found out she wasn't. She wanted a same sex partner so that she could do the lifts rather than have a pro try to lift her (apparently).

Not watched Strictly tonight, but have just got back from watching ‘Strictly Ballroom -The Musical’, based on the film. Really enjoyed it. Considering kFG is a dancer, he has a surprisingly good voice. Maisie was excellent, especially her acting skills. At times, we felt the dancing was restricted due to the size of the stage. The best dance was a Paso, done by a Spanish dancer. Really enjoyable evening.

I'd love to see that as I adore the film. Although I was gutted to see Paul Mecurio in Neighbours (as Mackenzie's dad) as he doesn't look like he dances much anymore. I loved him in the film. Have been lurking on the thread and gutted I didn't get to vote last night as I had to take DD16 to a party, but would've voted Tony, Helen and Molly.

Carriemac · 09/10/2022 10:02

Jayde was shockingly overmarked . Stomping around and it looked like a comedy turn. Tony was brave and it worked . Tyler was amazing- really enjoyed his dance

Has she done a single lift yet? Pretty sick of the patronising empowering stuff and the praise for Jayde but not for Fleur.

NashvilleQueen · 09/10/2022 10:07

I love Tony Adams. He's such a geezer and just lots of fun. I agree with Anton that he is what Strictly is about.

For all Molly seems nice etc she's a typical stage school can do anything and has been brilliant from week one. Pleasant to watch but I don't get the sense of it being hard for her at all. So I tend to favour those who throw themselves into a new skill with abandon and end up with a love of dance.

I liked Tony, Ellie S, Will, Tyler and Kym most of all.

I thought the Jurassic Park rumba was a terrible concept. Gio and Ritchie massively overmarked. It was a poor samba for me.

I also agree that Katya's choreography skills are incredible. She still gets a bit of backlash I think after the Sean(n) Walsh thing but she's so talented.

NashvilleQueen · 09/10/2022 10:09

Oh and I really like Jayde after reading the Guardian interview with her the other week. But I didn't think last night was great.

She's done a samba, a tango and a cha cha. So no, of course not.

lollipoprainbow · 09/10/2022 10:11

I'd nice rather watch Tony and Jayde then Fleur or Mollie they bore me rigid.

I think she'll struggle to do a lift of any note , she seems to be very out of breath and lifting someone needs core strength and good technique.

NancyPickford · 09/10/2022 10:11

All the stuff about gay celebs dancing with same sex pros - what about in the past: Julian Clary danced with a woman; Robert Rinder ditto; and then the gay pros who dance with the opposite sex. People are acting as if this year was the first time gay people danced with same sex partners.

Tabbouleh · 09/10/2022 10:12

EvilRingahBitch · 09/10/2022 10:10

Fair enough. But no one can convince me that Jayde and Fleur deserved the same marks last night. Bcos that is what they got!

NancyPickford · 09/10/2022 10:12

Sorry, I worded the end bit badly - over-excited fast typing. What I meant was, there's never been a need before for gay dancers to dance with gay partners. I think.

Mrsjayy · 09/10/2022 10:13

Just place marking I was way behind last night so didn't join in . I wasn't really feeling Jayde and Karen I thought they were overhyped , I think Richie will be in the dance off with Matt

Tabbouleh · 09/10/2022 10:13

Tbh all Jayde's dances look the same to me. Walking about.

NancyPickford · 09/10/2022 10:13

I wonder why the costume department keeps getting Matt's trousers wrong? They are always weirdly ill-fitting.

It isn't a need, it is a "want". They have had a few celebrities say they would only do it if they could dance with a same sex partner and a couple of years ago they caved and decided to do it.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 09/10/2022 10:17

i am sure Shirley mentioned Jayde and her difficulty gettng up off the floor, i also felt for her!

Tabbouleh · 09/10/2022 10:20

Louise Redknapp and Kevin Clifton did the same Flashdance routine.

"Caved" ??? What an unpleasant way to put it!

They decided to listen to what viewers wanted and decided that same sex couples would be a positive move for them.
I think John and Johannes proved that they could be last year.
I noticed last year that they were incorporating same sex couples into their professional dance routines too. Personally I love the fact that Strictly is normalising same sex couples.
Why shouldn't celebrities express a preference for a same sex partner?

Cuck00soup · 09/10/2022 10:23

Did anyone watch the documentary about Bros which wasn't intended to be funny? Matt hasn't learnt anything. Which makes me sad. And I had Bros stickers all over all my school stuff as a teen.

Tabbouleh · 09/10/2022 10:24

Went on Twitter and saw the Strictly spoiler inadvertently. Well.

It was Motsi
