I just think as men get older the balls become a bit more prominent and easily dislodged.

She didn't actually dance the full 90 seconds either, there was ages at the beginning before she started. She's definitely good at hearing the rhythm and dancing in time, so goodness knows why that bit on the floor was needed.

I remember seeing an interview once with Anton and he was talking about how tricky it is as a professional if your partner isn't fit enough to dance for the whole 90 seconds. He said they do develop a whole range of tricks including putting them on chairs or swings whilst the professional dances and also taking "character" time at the start of the routine.
Lisa Riley was a brilliant example of a larger celeb who could dance, she really gave it her all. Sadly, as much as I want to like her, Jayden's not really fit enough for the show.

iklboo · 09/10/2022 18:34

There was some mad marking last night. Motsi & Shirl must have scarfed all the Haribo before coming out.

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 18:36

Some Like It Hot - I wanna be loved by you

Greatest Showman The Bodyguard - been done before I think but not loads Moonstruck - That's Amore also Gio and Michelle (but never used for movie week not sure why, the Cher look has been used many times, they have moon props. I love that movie btw) Breakfast at Tiffany's - Moon River also Sophie and Stacey used in general weeks About a Boy - Killing Me Softly difficulty to theme that as Hugh Grant never got with Toni Collette

Black Panther - Pray for Me
possibly you would want a pro and sleb of colour as it was a landmark movie Oti/Anthony Oti/Ugo are the only pairs I can think of /Black Panther was 2018
Breakfast Club - Don't You Forget About Me - They know the music as it has been used as a goodbye dance. What would Bender/Claire dance to it? Also as shown last night, red wigs = Cilla! Wink
Love Actually - Jump - PM/Natalie - Would she be dancing in a red coat?!
Big Lebowski - Just Dropped In - I would vote for a pj tripping Dude, aye

I agree there are other films to use though and/or other countries to nick from
Men in Black (still think Jojo and John should have used it)
I see fire (Hobbity rumba)
Boss Hoss Word Up couple's choice (Kingsman - just give me an eyepatch)
Pride - Shame, shame, shame
Mulan - Paso (hard to beat DWTS but a skirt reveal to red cape might work)
God forbid, Madagascar furries albeit we had Simon LeastWorstMemberOfBlue

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 18:42

Also, while I am here, I agree Maniac would have been more interesting, but I did love Jayde's end shot
Here is Rachel's freestyle

And Denise's And Louise's cha cha
SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 18:43

Ha! That's not Rachel Grin

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 18:46

Not an AT but enjoy!

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 18:48

Dammit. Will try again. Here is your 8 mile!

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 18:52

My favourite DWTS routine that was Halloween night but could have been movie was last year's. I made jokes years ago about Dianne and Dev red suits better for Us but here the choreo for a non-dancer was amazing.

Rainbowcat99 · 09/10/2022 18:57

I have a question, why are some professional dancers employed on the show but not paired with a celebrity?
Is it to stand in if a pro dancer is ill or injured?
Has that ever happened?

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 18:58

Horror night, even. They have had so many theme weeks, it is hard to keep count but last week they did a 60 years of Bond celebration and it was fabulous (most of the routines series 31, week 3 are on youtube for those without Disney+)

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 19:00

It has happened, Brendan replaced Artem and Robin iirc
Also Gorka replaced Brendan
Finally, Kevin stood in for Neil
Currently in the states Daniella (the pro in the Us routine) has Covid so has a sub.

FKATondelayo · 09/10/2022 19:03

Oh wow Sequins, I bow to your superior knowledge. I am relatively new to Strictly (5 years in) but do remember Danny's Showman and should remember AJ (my fave ever contestant) doing Whitney.

I definitely think Paso for Just Dropped In - - it would be amazing!

The 8 Mile on DWTS is great but a bit literal. Think a ballroom version is needed. Grin

I also propose a Straight Outta Compton Charleston.

Thank you, I didn't know that!

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 19:13

I think it is truly the pro's worst nightmare/they have to be dying, Kevin was very ill, I think, when he did a salsa with Frankie? (that had Flashdance welding at the start a propos of nothing). The problem being that they are compared with the replacement, especially if they do better.
So many thought Gorka was a better fit for Anastacia, for example.
Kevin was deemed to have danced well with Alex. Neil and Alex reprised the Ghostbusters number on the tour, as he was injured on the night.
I don't mind Neil and Luba popping up everywhere, as I think they have been treated quite poorly. Rather than followers or calls, they ought to draw out of a hat who gets benched unless it really is a heights thing it's not a height thing

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 19:19

Last bit of twaddle before I go and get laundry on. Seann Walsh's gf (has been with for 3 years) is having a baby and is rumoured to be on IAACGMOOH brave man indeed. Bushtucker, yuk.

NancyPickford · 09/10/2022 18:21

Just to get back to the problem of Matt's consistently ill-fitting trousers, is it because he has very short legs and a very long torso? I can't figure it out.

He's got Poland syndrome, which is a type of deformity. I haven't heard him mention it on the show (though I might have missed it) so he's not bringing attention to it but it has got to affect his posture and movement.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/10/2022 19:20

Evenin'

Maireas · 09/10/2022 19:22

Well, they're murdering Elvis

Bucketsofrain77 · 09/10/2022 19:22

Go Vito!

😅

FuzzyPuffling · 09/10/2022 19:23

Evening all. DH is a big Elvis fan (so is singing along). I, on the other hand, don't see the attraction at all. (Elvis, not DH)

Sunbird24 · 09/10/2022 19:23

At least they look like they’re enjoying this dance, not like the marigold monstrosity!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/10/2022 19:23

I just think how talented they are to sync up
