Who has been watching thus far?

Looks like lots of drama tomorrow.

I didn't know whether to feel sorry for Maddie or want to tell her to get her shit together. She's obviously not healed from her recent heartbreak.

Am here! Just watching ep 1 now, didn't realise it had started

TitsInAbsentia · 07/10/2022 19:30

I'm not particularly enjoying it, I mean the farmers gets away with snogging anyone they like and just stringing them all along :(

peerie · 08/10/2022 17:42

Also not particularly enjoying it.

They all seem so fake (apart from Paige) and just trying to win rather than having genuine feelings.

Stressybetty · 08/10/2022 19:01

Not impressed with the blonde that had a wobble and went home then made an entrance back in. Was feeling sorry for her to start with now looking like a bit of attention seeking drama. We usually watch after MAFS on all 4 but episode 5 from last night still not uploaded 🙄

I’d never watched this, before the current series, and it’s compelling. For all the wrong reasons. I feel a bit bad after watching it because the premise is obviously, “watch all these women making an exhibition of themselves, fighting over men”.

None of the farmers are particularly attractive. One is boss eyed, they are all quite short and they all seem a bit dim. How have they managed to be surrounded by pretty and (mostly) intelligent women?

I recently re-watched ‘Burning Love’ (on Netflix, it’s an American pisstake of the Bachelor type shows) and all the stereotypes were there. The ‘damaged’ woman who has been hurt and can’t risk having her heart broken again etc etc (that’s Madison, the attention seeking poison dwarf), the women who demand to ‘know where they stand’, the devout Christian who doesn’t do sex before marriage, the one who cops off with a crew member (Karlana) etc etc.

In the latter case, it was hilarious that farmer Harry is juggling three women, playing them off against each other, but is outraged when Karlana mentions to one of the other women that she liked the look of one of the film crew and was looking forward to seeing him when she got back to Sydney. The other woman immediately grasses her up, naturally. Because she’s ‘there to find love’ and ‘has to be honest’.

@Iamthewombat agree with the farmers not being up to much! One has a very slurred voice like he's been on the grog all night

peerie · 08/10/2022 22:37

Are we all watching the same series? I'm on 12.

peerie · 09/10/2022 00:00

Okay, I take back what I said earlier having watched series 12 to the end!

Stressybetty · 09/10/2022 00:12

Nope I'm on season 10 currently on E4?

anonacfr · 09/10/2022 01:26

Sounds exactly like the Bachelor which honestly disgusted me- I love reality TV normally but this format feels very exploitative.

Yeah, that’s the boss-eyed one, farmer Alex!

Iamthewombat · 09/10/2022 08:03

Although farmer Neil is possibly worse, I can’t decide. His harem have to compete with his deceased ex-girlfriend who died in a car accident before the millennium (he got married to someone else after that, and had children, then divorced). I can’t imagine wanting to compete with the memory of the dead 22 year old love of his life, but that’s what he wants them to do. And understand HIM, and open their hearts to him, and give him all the support HE wants. And be blonde, and have ‘the spark’, which he attempted to define a few episodes ago but couldn’t. No wonder the remaining women are fed up of him. Run for the hills!

Stressybetty · 09/10/2022 14:09

Yeah that deceased girlfriend thing was weird especially as he'd been married and had kids since! WTF must his ex wife be thinking!

TitsInAbsentia · 09/10/2022 17:36

Bit behind so a back to back viewing...

The little blonde girl who sulked, left, came back, sulked a bit more was very odd. Wasn't sure if she was just really struggling or if she was used to being fawned over all the time - she is incredibly pretty but no-one likes a sulky ass.

Meanwhile at Farmer Nick(44? My arse!)'s vineyard...Dolly Parton wannabee had a lucky escape really, although being the oldest he was always going to dump her when the opportunity presented, when was the last time a guy of that age picked someone his own age, let alone anyone older!

Farmer Neil for sure has a type, he loves a blonde eh! Taking them all to meet his ex wife was a total blunder!

Did anyone think having all the other random blokes at the country ball was weird, wonder if anyone coupled up then with a random 😂

Stressybetty · 09/10/2022 20:23

Ep 5 from Friday still not on All4 yet so me and MIL can't catch up 🙄

kateandme · 09/10/2022 20:56

Is this the one Sarah cox did on bbc?

Iamthewombat · 10/10/2022 01:02

Maybe? This is an Aussie programme so might be completely different.

Yeah AS IF farmer Nick is 44! He looks 59. Agree that Dolly Parton dodged a boomerang when he sent her home for being sparkless. Now he has to deal with Liz the marriage celebrant who wants to practise her trade from his winery when they are married and who wants him to commit to children NOW NOW NOW. I quite like Naomi the management consultant but think she is too clever for him.

Old Madison (who sulked, flounced then came back again via a private audience with gormless Farmer Harry) was hoping that when she left the farm he’d say, no, come back, you have bewitched me, I’ll sack off the other girls and marry you now!

LadyC43 · 10/10/2022 01:11

Started watching this.can't get into it.why would anyone want to marry any of these and live in the middle of nowhere
I love MAFS .but preferred the Australian one

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 10/10/2022 08:55

I'm on episode 3. Who the fuck let Madison enter this program? She's far too vulnerable to be allowed anywhere near there. I hope she gets a tonne of therapy!

Stressybetty · 10/10/2022 22:05

Had to ditch ep 5 as still not on All4 😡 and watching ep 6. Can't remember any names anyway

Iamthewombat · 10/10/2022 22:38

This is the first series of Farmer Wants a Wife that I’ve watched, so I don’t know whether the same thing happens in every season. But, having watched episode 6, I was struck by the fact that ALL the potential wives are massively p*ssed off with the farmers for having too many ladies still in the running. I think that boss-eyed farmer Alex would happily maintain his ménage a cinq as long as he could!

Stressybetty · 10/10/2022 22:38

Can I just say that there must be a massive shortage of available men in rural Australia!

It's hilarious isn't it! They should be forced to evict one each week instead of being able to pash them all which is grim.

HundredMilesAnHour · 14/10/2022 22:05

Did anyone watch the finale tonight?? I think I'm a little bit speechless at how it all ended. Wasn't expecting most/any of that!
